OSX on x86, hardware requirements?

Hi, I have a 2.2GHz AMD64x2, 2GB DDR2, 8800GTS 512MB graphics, and I tried running Leopard in both VMWare 6.5 and VirtualBox with a Windows 7 host. I gave 1GB to the Mac guest and the farthest I ever got during an installation was a screen showing the apple logo and sporadic hard disk activity.

Do you think there was a problem with the ISO I was using or was it just under resourced. I can't give it any more RAM with due to having only 2GB in total in my machine. My younger brother has a similar spec machine and he'd love to be able to dual boot windows 7 and OSX on his PC. With him, he woudn't mind having to reboot in ot another OS as long as it performed reasonably well. He's not a gamer. He's one of those arty fart musicians and graphics designers, so now that he can use his PC as a Mac all the better.

Any ideas what our options are? Any special requirements for doing a dual boot config with Windows 7 and Leopard?

osx86.com, google and bittorrent you probably have a intel iso not an amd, hackintosh's are fun but no replacement for the real thing.
