The newly launched Lexus RX hybrid, which is currently €300 to tax is to fall into the €156 category with the upcoming 2WD version.

FWD with all that power should be entertaining but hats off to lexus for getting a 3.3 SUV into the €156 a year category.

This can only mean good things for future IS and LS models, not to mention the hatchback concept

Heard the ads on the radio. Would have assumed 2WD=RWD?

There was an article in EVO magazine a while back about modern automatic gearboxes being set up to do extraordinarily and unrealistically well in the euro and EPA efficiency tests. Can't comment on the RX tho.

AFAIK the outgoing and new model RX hybrid use electric motors for the rear wheels. the 2WD models would just go without these.

All previous generations of the RX have been available in Front wheel drive, just not in Europe (bit of a misleading title :) )
