    hey im taking a project on capybara behaviour and im just wondering (with the exception of fota wildlife) does anyone have any as pets (yep some people keep them as pets!)

    Best way to learn about their behaviour is to watch them if you can get to the UK to somewhere like Marwell to watch them. Marwell in general is a pretty good park aside from the tiger the rest of the animals are pretty happy. Gotta love their Okapis as well. Can be tricky to get to but there's a hotel right opposite it.

    Aparently they don't breed well in captivity but Marwell have had some luck with them.http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/capybara/

    One of my fave animals (being related to the guinea pig of course they are) although would never subject one to being a pet.

    Don't remember seeing any in Fota does Fota have them?

    Fota had them a few years ago but not any more .. I dont know what happened to them but they're gone now...
