For the record i count homework and study as two different things,I've known people who say they do 3 hours of study a night,Where as 2 hours of that was an english essay,The other 50 mins was other subjects homework and the last ten mins was looking over something in a language...

I think you should only be asking how much study they are doing,As in taking notes from books reading through chapters etc because you'll get some people who will get 5 hours of homework a weekend and then doing no study and then you'll read their response of "five hours" and think they're doing at least three hours of actual study and panic,Where as maybe they're doing an Irish essay,English essay and 20 question in Engineering.

So yeah,You're better off asking how much study they do :)

Depends, the HL maths is beginning to get a tad bit more time consuming, especially with long, labourious but easy enough questions being thrown at us. Some nights it'd be 30/40 minutes of maths, and about 15 minutes for every other piece of homework. All-in-all, around 2 and half hours average homework, 3 hours on a bad night.

Don't really study that much atm, only the subjects which we've covered a good bit of complicate stuff in, such as chemistry and maths, that I'll forget/won't understand if I don't look at it again.

It's so early in the year, I can't really see the point in too much study unless you have tests. There can't be more than two or three chapters or whatever subject you're doing covered.

I'm doing 3 - 4 hours homework a night. It's bloody torture. I spent 6 hours on homework one night during the second week. :(

It's mainly biology and english. My teacher is useless, so I spend ages trying to understand what we did in class then tackling my homework and the notes she makes us write. My english teacher gives us about 2 A4 pages to write a night.

I'd like to be studying, it's actually hard to cram proper study in around all the work.

I'd like to take it easy! Most people I've talked to aren't doing this much, I think its down to subjects and teachers.
But two hours would just about cover the essentials for the next day, never mind notes or anything.

yea honours maths is a b*tch for me.. But im not studying it each night and not even doing my homework properly either. I wish i could but i just dont have that willpower when it comes to maths.

And ill probably be dropping to pass by christmas as i was forced to do honours! So, i dont see the point in working my ass off for something that will last about 2 more months like..

Feckin' alpha and beta. I hate those words!!!

Yeah I do about 5 hours of homework and 4 hours of study every night....
    Honest

I suspect some lying going around, How can you study for that long daily if your only 4 weeks in 5th year? Theres not much to study yet.

    Really
1 - 2 hours homework depending on how bad it may be.
10 mins study or maybe 30mins-1hour if I've a test. No more needed at the moment.

Yeah you did 15 hours and I can fly.

Tests are coming in earnest to me. Starting to up the study (including homework time) to about 3, at worst 4 hours.

    4 hours?..

I seriously feel bad now looking at how hard some people are working :/ .

hi i'm in fifth year aswell,

ye it wud depend if ur talkin bout homework or study....i wud finish all my homework which so far is taking approx 2-3 hrs, and i wud giv another 1hr 30mins on revision of 2 or 3 subjects. if u dont get much homework den do more revision. do between 4-5hrs over sat nd sunday. nd dats only de weekend..

i no ervy1 says it but, it wud be a gud idea 2 make out a study timetable and stick to it! revise 1-2 subjects for 30min-1hr every night but giv homework de priority.

i no it seems lyk a pain in de ass! but de LC is effectivly goin 2 decide ur life!!!!! most ppl dont seem 2 realise dat till dey gt into 6th year nd den de pressure hits.

The critical part of that would be the "tests coming in earnest". I have maths in a few days, biology and physics next week. Maths is okay...need to revise earlier things in the chapter though, so that's a good bit of work, I've done NOTHING in biology, seriously need to revise that, and physics I need to revise some of the stuff, it's like maths again.

Hmm... Seven hours of school, fifteen of work and two hours for sleeping and eating. If this is true, I see breakdowns in the future

I suspect some lying going around, How can you study for that long daily if your only 4 weeks in 5th year? Theres not much to study yet.

I really hope that isn't aimed at me. I spent an hour on biology homework on Monday, followed by an hour of study, then almost 2 hours on physics study because I had a test in both subjects on Tuesday.
    4 hours?..

I seriously feel bad now looking at how hard some people are working :/ .

Ah don't! I'm leaving the proper study for later on. Enjoy the time while you have it.

Well, the thread title does ask "over the weekend", so presumably that would include Friday evening / Sat / Sun.

@ nipps: Welcome to Boards, but please lay off the txtspit, it doesn't go down well on this site! :)

also,do you think getting 430 and 360 points out of a possible 470 is realistic?

Our school cut that, 'cession an all. It's annoying, I can't study at home there's too many distractions.
Anyway I usually do about three hours over the weekend...all on Sunday evening

tbh i'm not doing much at the moment, we've only been back about 4 weeks! if you get too stressed about it now, you'll be totally burned out by 6th year.
