    Hello there,

Not too sure how many of you folks picked up a WAS6050 but I was wondering if you are having any issues with it.
The unit can crash, not often I might add and usually if you are moving from network media files to internet radio. When it does “crash” you need to plug it out. That bit is not unusual but when you then try to power it back up again it is like it will not "boot up" you get the Philips "start-up" screen but it just freezes there.

You can repeat the plug in, plug out, sequence many times but it will not "start-up" properly. I have found that I need to leave it plugged out for hours before I go back to it and plug it in again. I don't know what this does but it then "boots" up normally.

I have to assume this is not normal behavior, could I have a faulty unit?

    What are your recommendations/ suggestions?

    Hey builder22,

Sounds like your unit may indeed be faulty. I don't have any in stock at the moment but I should see them next week. If your around at all pop into us with it anyway and we'll have a look at it. See if connects to our "mama" unit instore and see if it crashes. Do you know where you purchased it from?

Also I would recommend the WAS7500 aswell. It’s a larger unit but in stock and very reliable.

Let me know what you think,

    Nicola

    Hello Nicola,

    Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately I’m in Limerick so can't just pop in. To answer your other question i bought this on July 20th from the Philips store (Ash looked after me) and had it along with another wireless unit shipped to me in Limerick.
FYI – “crashed” again last night so I’m in the middle of the turn-on-turn-off cycle to see if it will come back to life.

In situations like this where the unit might be faulty what is the procedure?

    Hi Builder22

Sorry to hear your having issues with the WAS6050.

Have you tried updating/reloading the firmware on your unit?

I've attached the link to the latest firmware, its well worth trying as this usually cures any little issues with them.

    www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?tmplt=Cps&scy=GB&slg=ENG&sct=SU00345_SU&cat=AUDIO_SYSTEMS_CA&session=20090922092302_83.70.176.90&grp=HOME_ENTERTAINMENT_GR&ctn=WAS6050/05&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software

If it doesn't help please let me know and I'll get the uniut sorted for you.

    Cheers
    Ash

    Hi Ash,
Thanks for the response. When I originally got the unit I updated to this Firmware version to the latest.
In any case the unit now will not start up at all. I get the initial start-up Philips screen followed by another Philips start up screen but it will not go beyond that. I have cycled it up and down repeatedly over the last couple of days (it has been stuck like this since Sunday) and now I’m out of options.
I think I have a dud on my hands.
So what is the next step?
    Cheers.
