Searching for an item in the house the last day I came across my Moultrie GameSpy i60 trail camera. To my utter horror I discovered that the clear plastic weatherproofing panel on the IR array was shattered into pieces. Chancing my arm I fired off an email to Moultrie that evening, admitting the most likely cause of the damage was careless storage on my part. I just read their reply "If you will supply me with an address we will forward you on the part free of charge".

Now, it's a small bit of plastic, but I am genuinely impressed with the attitude!

When it arrives also post a thank-you here and send them the link. That's the best way to reward good service.

had a similar problem with a rifle rest I bought in Norn Ireland, only the part was missing, rather than drive the hour and a half back to the dealer I chanced my arm by e-mailing the manufacturer in the states, no problem !part despatched forthwith free of charge-had it in 5 days:D
yep! some of those american companys could teach our boys a thing or two about after care with customers, like the shopkeeper in our area who sold a women a frozen chicken, she came back to the shop with it and complained to the shopkeeper that the chicken had only one leg!
The shopkeeper replied" are you going to to eat it, or dance with it":D:D

This attitude seems to be very common amongst US companies alright.
I have a Gerber spectre knife that I carry all the time, The pocket clip was a bit bent and I emailed the cust. service in Oregon to ask the price for a new one, they sent me a new clip FOC.
Thats how you build customer loyalty.

The email I got was great though, no airs or graces, or lectures, just how much can we do for you and how soon can we do it!

I had a SOG lock knife bought from USA. Blade seemed a little loose after a while where it met the handle. The knife had not been abused...just normal wear & tear.

Contacted SOG by e-mail and they asked me to return it for inspection.....if faulty they would repair / replace.

7 days later a brand new knife of the model I had sent arrived with an apology plus a free SOG keyring type knife (little beauty!) which they said would offset the cost of my postage.

When I checked the price of the keyring knife on the net it was $16.99.........postage only cost me €3.50!!!

With that type of attitude I would definitely do business again.

USA suppliers seem to have customer satisfaction high on their list of priorities and do not, in general, try to 'fob' you off or imply that the fault is due to your use/abuse of the product.

Take the other angle : a relatively cheap goodwill gesture has bought them your loyalty. A concept some of the chancers around here just don't grasp.

I think it was Ebay Dwighet, I bought it two year ago or so. It's not the fastest off the mark because it's got a battery saving mode which puts it to "sleep", so if you're after one for a fast moving animal like a fox it may not be good. Should work fine for bambi though.

There are two sites you need to look up and read thoroughly before buying as not all trail cams are made equal. They are http://www.chasingame.com/ and http://www.trailcampro.com/index.aspx . Now, last time I checked them they had good independent reviews, which are hard to come by.

I had something else to say to you but, I've forgotten! (long day)

Oh yeah. I remembered what I was going to say now. Do a YouTube search of different trail cam makes and models, some good stuff to see on there :)

    Brilliant.
We in Ireland could take a leaf from their book and the nobs meeting in Farmleigh could suggest Irish companies adopt the same attitude.
