Lost me mojo

Its been a great year of cycling, thanks to all the info, influence and advice received in the good old cycling forum I have spent a fortune, including the purchase of two bikes:)

I clocked up some amount of miles both on and off road and managed to increase my average kph by 10kph so that, I'm very happy with. Gael force was my goal for the year and I completed it with a smile so mission accomplished. Only thing is I was on 2 weeks hols after it, mucho relaxo, but I'm back 2 weeks which means its been 4 weeks without touching the bike in any meaningful way. Autum is upon us again so if I dont get back clocking up the miles soon it'll be a long fat winter and back to zero again next spring.... yep, I've lost my mojo.

My plan is to get back on track starting Monday but already I'm feeling like I'd like to put it off.
    help:o

Set a goal and train for it... best thing you can do.

@ Bould. Your based in Bantry correct?

Get yourself over to Tralee for the Conor Pass Challenge.
If you can get to Kenmare in the morning I will give you and the bike a lift.

I havent been exactly setting the world on fire training either, and a week in London eating nice food and quaffing pints hasnt exactly helped.

Reality is, this happens to everyone in every sport/physical activity.

You need to get back on the bike, if only for an hour or two. Do it this weekend.

Yea, come on over - we'll show you some nice bits of road, keep you well set with food and drink and hopefully send you home happy with another classic climb and day in the saddle in the bag!

Heading to Tralee in the morning, looking forward to the cycle despite being off the bike for a few weeks. Time to find that mojo!

I wouldn't worry about it to be honest.
I'm two months off the bike, probably more..........
Did well in the Vets. last year.
    I'll kick off Oct. 1st.
3 months doing miles and come January start doing speed work / intervals, sprinting up hills.

Said before, depends what you're training for.........................

Yeah, I'm with Planet X on this one - I haven't been on the bike other than for commuting since the Dying Sow, and I don't intend to get back on it until the middle of October. When I do, I'll be easing myself back in. I have my target for next year, I have a training plan, and it doesn't involve doing 100k+ spins until the new year.

It's natural to have a trough after you peak for the season and it's necessary to do so to allow for full recovery. If you attempt to stay at a peak for the entire twelve months of the year, you'll spread yourself too thin and quickly hit a plateau. If you don't feel like riding the bike, don't. The desire will come back eventually.

So what you're saying is that it's ok for me to slack off now?

    I'm waaaay ahead of you.

Haven't done anything at all since Malin to Mizen at the end of July/start of August myself, apart from the commute (which has grown to 16km per day happily since July) and one short trip up stocking lane.

Just get on the bike and go for a really easy ride with no targets for time, distance or effort and you will find your mojo. Gotta re-awaken your desire first:p
