    Blorgo,
You went and bought several chain cleaners a while ago. What's the best one ?

I gave up buying them i just use a small paint brush degreaser and let it soak and then run the chain with a wet sponge clean chain every time spray a bit of WD40 on it to get rid of any moisture.

I've used the Parktool yoke and the MucOff spray and TBH they both clean equally well (very well, like super shiny!) but I think I got more cleans out of the spray. Wouldn't like to get the stuff on my hands mind you.

The Park one is exceptionally good, much better than the similarly designed Barbieri one I used before (and I thought that one was good.)

I haven't tried the other two yet, the Park one is just that good.

yep, I also go with a paint brush and a degreaser called gunk, although be carefull as its very strong stuff..

I gave up on the pot-of-thinners and a brush method - too messy. I have the Park cleaner now - deadly. Quick and easy to use. You can replace all the internal parts when they wear out too, which appeals to the environmentalist in me.

I got the Muc-Off one (with Muc-Off degreaser) in Halfrauds, I have used it once & it definitely got the chain clean.

It is probably more convenient to use the chain cleaner than the paint brush/sponge method but I would doubt that it is any better or worse.

You can aso use the same gadget to lube your chain too, haven't used it for this..yet.

The one I got with my lifeline toolset was awful, so I just went back to the toothbrush.

EDIT: Also agree with the man from Rapha, Gunk is way too strong and the stink hangs around for hours. I moved to Pedros Citrus degreaser, not as strong, a little pricey but still keeps my drivetrain clean.

I have the park tool one also which is excelent in getting the chain clean. Sometimes too clean!!

Some day I'll buy a chain cleaner just to run the chain through a bath of chain-oil in it to get the oil back into the chain.

I think it's the KMC website that don't recomend chain cleaners. Too aggressive on the chain or someit.

Which degreaser/cleaner do you put in it?

If it's good enough for Blorg and Morgan, my two cycling gurus, it's good enough for me. The Park tool that is.

I use whatever I have to hand, generally undiluted Fenwicks FS-1 or Shimano bike cleaner concentrate, alternatively citrus degreaser such as Park ChainBrite. The latter is probably the best but it is quite expensive.
