Romantic comedies: Pornography for women?

It seems to me that romantic comedies are pretty much the same as pornography but for women. Any complaints women might have about pornography, we men could make similar complaints about romantic comedies.

For example, the main one seems to be that porn portrays an unrealistic view of women. Real women don't look like porn stars and it gives men an unrealistic expectations of women and sex.

But romantic comedies do the exact same, maybe with less emphasis on the sex (although often included, just not as explicit), but mainly it suggests that relationships have huge thought-provoking romantic climactic moments with very little "everyday life" getting in the way, finishing in a happily-ever-after moment - we don't think about what happens after the end of the film we just assume every day is as romantic as the one shown at the end of the movie.

The second one is that the women in porn movies are fake, they have unrealistic fake bodies / boobs / other cosmetic surgery and do sex acts designed for the camera (mightn't be that sexy if you were to do that in real life) - everything is orchestrated.

Same with romantic comedies. The man's super-romantic moment or classic line at the end wasn't just one man being thoughtfully romantic, it was actually the product of a team of skilled writers and delivered by a skilled actor. The setting is artificial and unrealistic (e.g. while a passionate kiss in the rain might seem great in a movie, try that in the cold Irish rain... not as romantic!), the man's voice has probably been deepened by the sound effects department, there's romantic music playing in the background... It's all just as fake.

The only difference you could say is that the acting in a romantic comedy is probably better than it would be in a porn movie (all slagging of Hugh Grant aside). But again this just falls into the preferences of men vs women - on average (if stereotypes are to be believed), women tend to want things to be genuine a lot more than men do.

Yes the production values of a romantic comedy tend to be better than your average porn, showing women require a lot more work to please than men, but what's new about that? ;)

haha excellent post... 1 thing tho, women don't stay up at night and do dirty things to themselves while watching romantic comedies. ;)

Do both Romcoms and pron portray unrealisitc interaction between adults?

    Yes.

    Are romcoms porn form women?
Can't ever say that I got aroused by a romcom or got off watching one so I have to say no.
