    Hi
I am looking for some feedback from someone who has done one of the Life Coaching courses you see advertised at colleges. They come under the heading personal development. Are they any good or a waste of money. Thanks.

I've attended one recently and didn't find it great.

I felt it was all very generic advice. Everything I mentioned i wanted to change or improve about myself I felt they tried to pigeon hole me into a set of "generic" problems which they are trained to "fix"...

Like if you say you want to improve something about an area of your life, or you have a problem doing X... they will say "Ah, yes, thats what you THINK, but your real problem is Y". Y being a generic condition you could pigeon hole anyone into like they do in horoscopes. If you disagree they'll ahve 100 analogies and metaphors for you until you just submit and say fine, yeah, thats my problem to make them move on and stop wasting your money.

I mean they can give good "generic" advice if you feel it is of benefit but its an aweful lot of money for what they do IMO.

If its through college you might be getting it free or at a discount so might be worth a shot but I wouldn't go paying 150+ a session on this.
