I give you - Copenhagen Cycle Motorways also here.
The idea is to create roads where people can ride their bicycles steadily at over 20 km per hour, without worrying that they'll have to deal with too much car traffic or with passing other bikes on narrow roads.

    Nice

I think I saw mention of something vaguely similar being planned for London.

[The Green Wave is in place on three main routes into Copenhagen already. Cycle 20 km/h and you hit green lights all the way.]

    That i like!

With the Copenhagen ones, the purpose seems to be to get cycle traffic from the outer suburbs into the wholly cycle-friendly city centre, whereas in London it seems that the routes are designated superhighways right across the city, i.e. there's a tacit acknowledgment that the city centre isn't a cycle paradise.

Do you think that this would be possible to expand across Dublin? We already almost have one with the coastal bike highway on the north side

There's already plans to expand that here. It's been going for years though, so don't get any hopes up on it being completed anytime soon.

This is not something really new. Even Bogota (yes, Columbia) seem to have a better cycling infrastructure than ireland:

Not very surprisingly, there are some in the Netherlands as well:

    Purple is existing bike-highways
    Green is proposed bike-highways
