    Hi there,
I need a new car and come November I will have 5 grand to spend. If I wait until January I will have 8 grand, but I'm not sure I can last that long without a car.

In the past I have had a couple of convertibles and some salloon cars. I am hoping to get a nice enough salloon car from this cash but I'm not quite sure what I'm after.

I was thinking along the lines of an Audi S4 or S6 (00 model imported from the UK), or an Audi A4 with the RS4 bodykit.

I won't be getting a beamer as a few of my mates have one and I would like a different car.

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks all. :)

I would definitely consider the S8. It's not as sporty looking as the S4, or S6... but it is a beast of a yoke. :D

Thanks Vain.. not a fan of Golfs unfortunately.

Something like http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/976296 or http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/950247 is what I like from the Audi range.

Not sure what the other manufacturers have to offer, or ones to avoid. Honda Accord maybe? Needs to be kinda sporty.

When I get a bit of money together I'm getting a Honda Accord - bulletproof cars!

TBH, I dont think you'll get a 00/01 S4/S6 for 5 grand. I also dont think you'll get a 01 A4 1.9TDi with an RS4 kit for 5k either. The 01 car you posted was €6200 "cash", so your still a long way out.

A mate of mine imported a 01 S6 from the UK for 5k (4100 sterling) recently. I see a few on AutoTrader for 3500-ish. High mileage though.

But yeah It does look like if I want the S6/S4 I may need to wait until January (new year, prices come down, etc) when I have 8k to spend.

I saw a 00 A4 1.9 TDi with an RS4 kit go on donedeal for 5k a couple of months back.

I was just giving those cars as examples, so you could see the type of car I have my eye on. Car that is 6100 now could be 5500 in November, or less. With Christmas approaching my hope is that sellers may take a drop in price come November.

That's another question.. is it even worth getting a car in November or should I just wait until January for a better deal?

If your looking for a 8/9 year old car don't think the new year will make much difference when it comes to 2nd hand values.

    Did that include VRT?

Nope. I could dip into savings for the VRT if needed.
