Bring it to a BMW dealer or specialist. Its the only way you'll know for sure what the problem is.

You'll have to pony up yourself then, wont you. Did you expect someone on here to tell you where to get it done for free?

If you do go to a BMW dealer, you may get some of it covered under goodwill, but I'd doubt you'll get it all covered. It WILL cost you some amount of money to put right.

    Here's a tip.

Bring it to a BMW dealer/specialist, and let them look at it. ;)

Nobody on here will be able to give you a definative answer as to why its happening, or how to fix it.

Have a look here - http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95349 and perhaps on some X5 forums - Are you sure they are flashing ? I have parking sensors on my car, and they don't flash, just beep when getting near an object.

Are you reversing at the time this is happening? I think that's what they are supposed to do :pac:

Seriously - Drummerboy was right, take it to a mechanic and they'll sort it out. If you don't want to go to a main dealer and you're in Dublin, try AC Cars.

Hi, you possibly have a faulty sensor (or sensors). Here is how to tell if your sensor is faulty or not:
    1.
Turn the ignition on the position 2 (do not start the car), all the ignition warning lights, etc. should be lit up. Put the car in reverse so that the sensors are activated.
    2.
Next go around to each sensor & listen for a clicking/ticking noise from each sensor. If you hear a little ticking noice from the sensor then the sensor is OK, normally faulty ones make no noise at all. You have to put your ear right up to the sensor. Don't forget to check the sensors in the front bumper too.
There are 4 sensors in each bumper, they are the little round items in the bumper, they are visible. (Just in case you were unsure)
I have compared this method to my Carsoft Diagnostics kit & it has given me the same results.

The x5 senors cost about €65 each or €120 for the colour coded ones. There is a lead time on the colour coded ones of up to 6 weeks apparently. Also you cannot paint them as it affects their operation, I'm not sure what kind of paint BMW use for their factory finish, maybe talk to a spray painter to see what their opinion is?

To fit the sensors BMW recommend removing the entire bumper, on some specialist forums you will find tips on how some can be fitted without removing the bumper.
    Hope this helps.
