    Define "wouldn't work".

If it isn't turning on then bring it back. If it turns on (i.e. beeps on start up, fans turn on and the green light shows) then it's fine and probably just the resolution set incorrectly on your screen.

Use the crappy cables that come with the machine first if it's on but no output, then change the resolution and bang in the HDMI :)

could you be more specific does it light up does the disc tray open up. Have you connected it up correctly. Have you put the correct channel on the tv. Might have to set it to AV or something else depends on your set and what else is hooked up.

Ara it works sound but it doesn't work well. It comes up on me telly but when I put in the game nothing happens. I tried shaking it when the disc was in and everything, I'm pulling my hair out. It plays DVD's sound like.

You're taking the piss yes? Is it PS3 or PS2 games you're trying?

No, I didn't really shake it that much. I'm getting seriously pissed off with it. I can't get to play Call of Duty 4 and I've been saving up for ages. I'm actually going mental. I just put the game in it and nothing happens.

The screen is just completely blank when the game is put in?

Did you press the start the game icon ? If you can see the main screen and it plays DVD's then i can only think it may be the blueray lazer. IS it a new one.

I wouldnt advise shaking it at all.

PS3's dont autostart game or disc media. Use the XMB (cross media bar, the menu) to go across to "Game" and choose the game by pressing X on the controller.

Also, make sure you have your controller turned on, hold the PS button for a few seconds.

Have you another game you can try?

Have you checked the screen settings on the PS3?

Scroll over to "GAME" on the main menu then you should see a blue disc with Call of Duty 4 beside it.

P.s. if this really is what youve been doing wrong then I dont know what to say to you.

A man of little patience eh? As a matter of interest, what type of television have you got the PS3 connected too? What cable are you using? You can hear sound but no picture right?

To the moderators of the Playstation Forum,

As a long term member of Boards it is rare to see a thread such as this occur, when they do occur the levels of fail in them can sometimes be overwhleming and cause people to queston the genuineness of such a thread and whether the OP really intended to ask such a question.

I fully believe that the OP made such a mistake in this case and I urge you as both a fan of the playstation and of Boards to lock and sticky this thread for future lulz.

    Regards
    Quazzie.

    P.S Please!!:D

LMAO...I knew no one could be stupid enough to shake a console. Would still like to see the OP reply though. :D

I was reading through this thread and felt a bit sorry for the OP for their game not working.

Then they post about the Xbox!

This thread has to be added to stumbleupon :D

    First of all ----> :o:o:o

OK, this is what happened. When I was buying the PS3 they didn't have Call of Duty 4 on the PS3 so I got it for the XB360 instead. Its a multiformat game so I thought it would work on any console.

Its a very easy mistake to make. I asked the manager in Gamestop if it would work and he said he wasn't sure.

There's a huge temptation to sticky this for the archives but we'll leave it at that. The discussion can't really go any further.

    We've all had our fun...

...but bookmark this address because it should get thread of the year when boards does it's yearly roundup of fun awards. :p
