My GF had one 10 years back, I'm 6ft and I found it difficult to get in. Also they're relatively lively and have no transponder so you can expect the scroates to try take it from your front garden. In a word, 'NO!'

A friend of mine had 3 crx's back in the day. Each one was stolen never to be seen again.

    check out hondarevolutions.com

I doubt you'll fit. Have a look at the 4th Gen Prelude or Teg. Loads of room in them. Forget about the 'back seats' though.

I wouldn't count on it - they're not exactly roomy. I felt slightly squeezed and I'm close on a foot shorter than you.

Yes - all Del Sol's you'll come across are Vtec. An Esi will be a 1.6 SOHC Vtec with 130BHP or so, a VTi will be 1.6 DOHC with 168 BHP or so. Japanese equivalent for the ESi is the VGi (which superceeded a 1.5 SOHC Vtec badged as the VXi), and the SiR is the equivalent of the VTi.

Yeah they're handy enough to get bits for - most components come from a Civic.

    thanks for the replys lads
The car im looking at has an alarm and an immobiliser so hopefully that would deter the scumbags. However if i cant fit theres no point... Its the 96 del sol version not the older orignal crx if this makes any odds

The older CRX is probably a better car!

My mate had one stolen recently too.

I don't like the CRX. You can get nicer cars for your money. The CRX is not that fast, a very bumpy and noisy ride and they often have 'leaking' problems when it pisses rain. Their interior is very bare too.

My mate fitted an alarm but his battery was dead after every 2 days or so.

I would go with an MR2 if I were you.

I have witnessed a fire that started in the dash board of one due to an electrical fault. The electrics are crazy!

They were cool about 10 years ago, I'd probably steer clear now...

I doubt you'll fit, but have a look anyway.

A Transtop VTI or SiR would be the ones to go for. Regardless of aftermarket alarm etc the only real deterrent is a big chain on the steering wheel and maybe a steel post in your driveway!

Hmmm i really do like this car hope i can fit... I have heard about the leaks in the roof alright but the dealer assures me this car is perfect all round... its a pity its a long way to go to see a car if i cant even fit in

    Isn't the 1.5 non VTEC. (100bhp D15B7 engine)

No - its a D15b alright, SOHC Vtec with 130BHP. Only the USA got a non Vtec version.

I drove a 1.5 about 9 years ago and didn't find it that quick.

Its not that quick - a Del Sol is heavier than a Civic, especially if the 75kilos of so of transtop is specced!

I had an SiR Transtop model.
Brought it in from the UK.

It was a real novelty. Looked cool, but the electric boot/roof kinda got on my wick a bit, especially when using the boot.
It was a fun car. Nippy, but not super fast as I was expecting. Mine didn't leak, but the roof did rattle, and that WRECKED my head. Honda heads will tell you to lube up the seals with 100% silicon grease to sort it. I did that, and it did sod all. Roof rattle was one of the main reasons I got rid of the car.

There's another 'known' problem, with the main relay, where it won't start again if you've stopped it after driving for a while. That was annoying too.

I'd be surprised if you fit comfortably tbh. I fit in, but I'm only 5'9".
Stick a post up on Del Sol UK about the height. Bound to someone tall there!

That's not just the CRX, but the Civic and Integra etc etc that are affected by that. Dried out solder joints in the relay crack. Preventitive maintenance is the only job, either replace the relay every year or 2 with a newer one, or just open it up and solder the joints again.

Fun car if you fit ...Im 511 and had no sensation of being cramped if thats any help.I must have taken dozens of nice cars 'home for the night' when working 'in the trade' and a 1.5 Japanese Import Del Sol was the only one the missus ever genuinely enthused about ...Engine wise the higher powered 1.6 DOHC VTEC version is all top end and the lower powered one may feel faster 80% of the time .Sure its a beautiful sound at 8250 rpm but you attract every cop and low life within a mile. Chain on the steering is nowhere near enough security for this vehicle .Do most people not realise steering wheels can be cut with a junior hacksaw in seconds ...they are foam with a pencil thick HOLLOW metal section in the middle .No transponder/chip in the ignition and generally poor security along with performance means ultimate thief/joyrider magnet.
Driveway post and really good alarm and hidden manual 'cut off switch' and whatever yer having yourself for when they come in for the keys ...Guess it depends on where you live ...
Buy /Dont buy ?Hard call...Id take one if it was going cheap AND in good nick eg no rattles from front suspension/bushings...
