Probably not the right place for this but this just popped into my head right now...
...does anyone remember the lunchbox (maybe there was a special box and my parents were poor) of words written on little card pieces that they had in primary school??

Maybe this was just something they did in my school???

Its something I have never thought about until it popped into my head just there (I'm cutting up words for my own students at the moment) but now that I've thought of it I remember it so vividly!! Blue lid on the box and all

In my school it wasnt a fancy lunch box it was a washed out tub of butter or margarine!

I remember those, I used to spell out sentences that I thought were super hilarious.

    My favourite was "Sean smells"

I sort of cheated though, I wrote them myself on a cornflakes box

I dunno if this shows the quality of my school but - brennans bread wrapper to cover your sandwiches was a regular sight in my school lunch room (never on mine)
Dont get me started on wallpaper to cover your books - do kids even cover books now?

Well yeah, 1980's flash cards. Tiny ones. God I can't get over it, do ya ever get a memory that you just think is hilarious! Well this is it for me. That and some really poor kid stole his mam's butter vouchers (ha, yeah!!) and bought sweets for the whole class.

We had them. But only had tiny pieces of card - and we used to store them in those smallpill boxes !

I remember getting words on squares of cardboard when I was in primary school and around 5 in Junior Infants circa 1992. I still have them somewhere in the attic iirc. I think this is probably normal for all schools at the time. We never got a special box to keep them in though, the were lumped into the school bag with everything else, I remember having a few disasters with either Cool crocker or Benny Bunny leaking in my bag and milk another time, my school bags used to smell like rotten milk :D

We had the wallpaper books, the bread wrapper is a new one though!

I also remember, for art, we used to be given the paint in empty egg cartons.
