Getting a bit cooler in the mornings now so nearly time to start wearing something long legged for my 11km commute. Happy enough to slip a pair of overtrousers over the padded shorts I use as long as they don't stick to bare skin, are reasonably waterproof, and warm enough for the majority of an Irish winter. Anyone recommend something specific or care to offer an opinion on these: Endura Gridlock Overtrousers

Altura leggings for me. Don't need them yet though. Water resistant ish and windproof.

There's some "economical" offerings at Aldi right now, but you'd want to be quick, they usually get snapped up pretty fast

Would you want to go with something 3/4ts first before you put on these overtrousers? They look mighty warm.

    this one for instance: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17905

I see it come with a '* Fully functioning fly'

What would be a semi-functioning fly? One that only opens?

It's one with only one wing.

The eVENT stuff is meant to be good (I have just ordered the weekly special jacket from Wiggle) but for the lower half I just wear lycra tights, it doesn't really matter so much if they get wet as long as you are kept warm. Overtrousers get in the way majorly in my experience.

The Gridlocks are great! Keep out all the rain - nice fit, plenty of pockets (and a fully functional zip as opposed to semi?!?)

They are a little warm in the mild weather (I only used them in rainy days) - but I guess that must be the case with all overtrousers???
