Am I the only who much preferred the old format of TG taht used to screen at 8.30pm on a Thursday evening it was more about reviews of the cars and less about the ego and comical jibes of Clarkson and Co.

I'm talking about a time when Clarkson was there with Tiff Needell Tony Mason and Quentin Wilson.

I used to be a avid fan always watching it when possible, these days I couldn't really be arsed if I miss it. In fact i might watch something else while it's on. That wouldn't have been the case back in the mid 90's.

Just curious, anyone feel the same ??

I watch clips of the old format series on youboob every now and again, and while its perfectly okay, it does rather creak a bit at times. I'm not sure the world needs 10 min long reviews of bread and butter cars anymore (the internet has seen to that).

Quentin Wilson makes me want to throw things at the tv. The man is an idiot.

Wasn't really around for older top gear. But I'd love if they'd bring back the old theme song for a bit. :D

I used to feel exactly that way but the new Top Gear has slowly grown on me and in fact now I seem to enjoy the eps that have the least to do with cars, the most. E.g. I thought the ep where they drove to the North Pole and the one where they bought some old bangers in America were excellent.

I do think there should be a good factual car show on TV though. Fifth Gear seems kind of dull.

Being 18 I've only watched Top Gear for about 4-6 years, but would love to see some of the old one's.

I agree with you, the old ones are far better, although the new ones have their moments.

I do think things have moved on alright, and 10 minutes talking about the latest opel/vauxhall astra isn't going to interest too many any more.

On the other hand top gear has just gone badly downhill since about 2005. It is getting really boring watching the same old lame 'gags' captain slow, wasting the fire brigades time, and smashing caravans up etc. zzzzzz Snore.

The new hour long Top gear's heyday was 2002-2004.
