Z day for Ireland

I wonder how Z apocalypse will play out for Ireland? I don't think we'll see the initial outbreak happen on this Island or anywhere close to it, we don't have the population to spawn something like this or the military experimentation that could create something like this. It's more than likely going to happen in eastern Asia, Africa or south America (naturally from the wild). Or the US, China, middle east or possibly UK-mainland Europe (militarily).

This may give Ireland time to close her borders and watch the world crumble around us. With knowledge of what's happening we may be able to keep ourselves safe but outbreaks will undoubtedly happen and we'll be open to invasion by more powerful countries and rogue military groups looking for safe places to hold out.

Will we even have a military to defend the country? Don't we have allot of soldiers overseas on peace keeping missions? How many are actually on the island at any given time?

It would be great if it went down like that.If our National secret service understood the threat that worldwide genocide was happening. if they had the sense to lock the country down, nothing out, nothing in.

The reality would be different. Would depend on how long the virus took to kill/turn victim. If it is days, a sufferer could have flown to Ireland with flu like symtoms and next thing you know, they're chewing on you. How many people fly into our country everyday? Hundreds maybe.

Even if we were lucky enough to react early and closed all ports and airprorts, we would still have to deal with smugglers. Our state can't handle smugglers now, nevermind when it's for your life. People would flock to Ireland, everyone with a boat would drop them here for a price.

We have to prepare for an all out invasion, it is the most likely outcome.

We dont have the capability to patrol the coasts or Airspace.

Anyone would get a boat or plane to us could have infected on board.

We would have a major advantage in being an Island nation but if we have major outbreaks we have little chance of containment due to the size of our military.

i say but millions of tanks and jetfighters buy warships and artillery pieces!!!!

put everyone thats on the dole into training camps and prepare them for the coming onslaught!!!!

then when the timem comes get everyone to their statiuons to blow up anyone that comes close to our ari/water space

or we could build a huge rocket and fly the population to mars whatever floats your boat!!!

There's only one way we can ensure these pertinent matters are addressed. There must be a zombie defence party, that will prepare the country for the inevitable by running in the next general election.

Actually, Now that i think about it. We may have an actual Zombie party in the country... I mean the PDs have been dead since 2007 but are still around....

also, i predict the general mayhem and looting that happens in every other city, except that someone will shout 'zombies are coming' and people will be like 'yeah right' and continue with their pint, much like fire alarms. that is why a zombie outbreak will be particularly lethal in ireland.

build a great wall around the country with big towers overlooking the sea at key points. use the mayo gas line for a 'blow torch' defense system.
everyone will join their local hurling team for fitness and agility training, hurleys will be made from GM Ash tress and sharpened and reinforced with steel.
special slitters will ignite 3 seconds after being exposed to brute force trauma.

o neills will provide special chainmail longsleeved jerseys for every man woman and child.

If Z day happens in Ireland we're fooked.

The HSE will deny its existence right up to the point when there's zombie hordes rampaging O'Connoll street. It will only become an "issue" when Stephens Green is infected and by that it'll be hard trying to distinguish Zombies from north siders. :P

Whats more we dont have any military to police our borders so we're doubly screwed by all the Welsh and Scots who'll be spilling into Dun Laoghaire and Dublin Port. Essentially if you're on the East Coast you're bolloxed.

The safest areas are the mountains in the west and even at that there are no discernable defenses.

Finally if it happens and we all know it will, keep to you Z day plans and its survival of the fittest. Anything short of a tank and ur fooked.
