    Hi,

I know there are many threads on this topic but I just need someone to clarify it for me.......explain it to me like I am a 5 yr old! Just want to make sure I exactly understand it before I make a decision!

I have been offered a job 2 days a week. 15 hours in total!

Can I still get my dole for the 3 days I am not working and if so how is it calculated?

I have been job hunting for 3 months and I really need to be doing some sort of work for my sanity or do you think I should just hold out for a full time job?I have been to many interviews but nothing as yet. I am becoming very impatient!

    All advice welcomed!

    Thanks :)

You more than likely are on Job seeker allowance(dole) at the moment. This is around €204 per week, the week been based on 6 days sundays is not included in the calculations so if you work a sunday it wont affect anything.

Each day that you work up to three days max €34 euro is taken from your job seekers allowance so for you €68 is taken from the €204 so you would get €136 and then you have your wages on top of that.

For 15 hours work will will more than likely not incur any tax or PRSI so your pay will be full take home.

Also there is a limit to the amount you can earn in the three days but Im not sure of it however it is up in the €300+ mark.

On the other side if you worked a saturday and sunday you would come out with €170 dole and what ever your take home pay is plus you might be entitled to 1/3rd extra for sundays(again a local issue)

The figure I use are not exact they are rough averages to within a euro or two.
