Z day rally point - Where!!

I've been reading up on the scenarios, weapons and ideas today. One thing that stands out is, if Z day were to happen we dont have one rally point for all of us to meet at.

Personally when the Z hit the fan I'd want to know where i am running to. So I can hook up with you guys and survive as a Boards community.

So question if you haven't lready discussed this where would it be? Since Ireland is an island and we're not that big it'd be easy to rally the nation to one point.

    Thoughts?

Would have to be far away from any major urban area.

So major cities are a no no....

    what about mountain ranges?

    Mcgillycuddy reeks?
It would be hard goin to get up there and to live there but Id like to see zombies climb that sucka! And you can easily pick off the ones that start to make there way up

surely there are old castles, prisons, safe buildings, army barraks we could make our way to?

I was pondering Ulster, perhaps a big army barraks, they'd have weapons, tanks and armour.

Problem is it depends on the breakout and how widespread and well know it is.

Assuming that the well informed citizens of the survival forum sound the alarm ahead of time we can all move before the rest of the population.

But if its a sudden widespread out break then saying to meet up in the middle of Mayo is going to be impractical for anyone stuck in an urban area. Trying to travel during the ensuing chaos will probably get you killed.

I don't have to move, I'm already out of the way, in a way. For Dubs I'd recommend the train lines as the fastest way out of the city.

Dub eh, I'll be driving at high speed towards freedom watch out i'll be in the Audi A6 Quattro burning down the street.

We should have a rally point, one where we will restart civilislation . It may take months to get there, I would safety predict that all Boardsies would be there 6 months after Z day starts..

As already suggested it would have to be far from a large urban centre. In other threads there have been great suggestions of short to medium term hold ups. What we really need is a long term HQ.

We better start recruiting some of the Ladies Lounge in that case. It'd be a pretty giant suasage fest otherwise. :p

alright so most of us realize our first few days will be spent in ones own home outlasting the hordes of humanity attempting to leave densely populated areas (I will personally be in my attic with several close (and healthy) friends until this insane amount of rioting subsides. After this I shall rendezvous with kromdar and smeg if they're still about starting the coagulation of the boardsies.
from here Im pretty sure our plan is to reach trinity unless we come to another choice somewhere within temple bar, this'll be where all dublin boardsies will meet. hold up there for several weeks and then.......
well this is where we get lost. we need to find the next step of reforming civilization.

I'd personally go for an island off of the west coast, but the only problem would be running water. maybe west coast mountains? (maybe not croagh patrick) but along those lines :P

as well as this we should make a roster of where all our boardsies are from so they know WHO will be meeting them where?

EDIT: you have all been blessed with receiving Smiley's 2nd thousand post... the nocturnals got my first thousand I thought it right to give my next big number to you guys XD

we get to dublin port and comandeer any boats that are there, we'll need to shank the crew and dump any ramps/ladders that lead onto the boat.

    i forget now.

i thought of a good place:

thats 'the love shack' as put forward by one of the boardsies.

middle of the country, a few islands, alleged supplies and 'love'

    why not?

Well those in the eastern half of the country can do what they like, we'll be rallying the west here:

    3451277-Dun-Aengus-from-the-air-0.jpg

Acres of razor sharp rock barrier, check, multiple walls just climbable enough so you don't get bogged down in zombie horde issues, check, steep cliff to drop off that lunatic who always opens the back door to save their beloved pet/prove a philosophical point, check, lobster fishing, check.

We might have the odd idea on how to run the place as well.

    :D

been there before 1). its on the cliff were its freezing and really windy

best thing is its on inis mor so that can be the last stand @ dun aengus but its a small island so you pretty much could run the island!!!

its easy to secure but sadly bad land!!!

well how about the Aron Islands? Lots of fishing, boats and some of the islands are already inhabitted?

    that or Craggy Island?

Eitherway Islands are looking like a winner. Since Ireland is littered with Islands arounds its west coast a few on the east. Perhaps the 1st rule of thumb should be is getting to an Island fast. Or if you're brave enough get the feck out of the major cities and head West!

Boards Island Rally Point (BIRP - the sound half the Z's will make after eating your brains).

Can we do some further rearach for the BIRP base camp? A central main Island preferably with the intent of creating a communications post to guide other islands to our lil piece of humanity?

    BIRP will need,
accessable shores (only 1 or 2 access points would be ideal)
Ability to capture fresh water (no problem with the amount of rain we get)
Already linked to the ESB, Phone line and even broadband (LoL)
Good fishing, crabs, lobster, muscles and seaweed.
Pre existing housing (a fort would be the mutz nutz)
Trees if at all possible for fire wood
Good soil for harvesting veg and live stock (seaweed is perfect for fertilising)

    Thoughts?

Well here's a "golden" spot for defenses and to be honest it where I am headed!

The Mint (where they make the money and store gold) in Sandyford.

In close proximity there's Dundrum Shopping Centre (Food/supplies) and Sandyford/Stillorgan industrial part, hardware, food, transport etc.

The min it self is one of Irelands most secure pieces of land, along its borders are 30-40 foot fences all electricfied, there are turrets/watch posts throughout and inside there is plenty of land for growing veg/fruit etc.

Not only does it provide defense, food and access to local supplies it also houses our gold and currency. If Z day happens and we have any hope of survival or rescue hard cash or good ol gold will be our one sure ticket out of there.

If we need to move around there are armored trucks/vans and cars at our disposal. Also there is an army/garda base inside full of weapons, gas masks and other handy gear.

    Thoughts?

Islands pose a whole host of different problems. Their not good places for producing food for a start due to the ocean air.

I'm all for the West, Irelands so small that even in the isolated areas you can go on supply runs without straying more than a few days from your base. I don't care how good the fortress is, urban areas just seem like bad news to me.

    Great call,

    ill be there.

One thought.... is it too soon to consider the politics and structure of this new society? ........ who's the boss?

    President!

j/k the last thing we need is a power struggle. everyone does what they're best at, because if they don't they'll be z food. think about it, i'm not exactly the fighting type but i could engineer ya a barricade to put the wall of corpses from 300 to shame. so i'd rather sit around barricading all day than go out with my sword and shield. if i did that, z food, instantly. so i dunno. raw communism or anarchy, whatever system of government you wanna call it.

I myself will be heading to spike island. Brilliant fortress for a last stand. There are two huge mounted guns on the island which im sure we could get working. ALso with the proximity of the naval base some guns etc could be secured. And with the currents and tides around the island itd be hard for the zombies to even float over there.

Dublin, why not the Phoenix park Magazine??Designed as a fortress from the word go.
My idea would be wither a damn big cabin cruiser/yacht or freighter.can get plenty of supplies on one of these and are defendable and mobile.Think the Smokers in waterworld movie type set up.

The problem with the supply ship idea is sooner or later you have to return to land to gather resources and/or restart humanity. Ultimately it is a stop gap.

I meant I'll bring a ship loaded with supplies over from America to hook up with my fellow survivors
