I am looking for a small start up loan, max 5000 and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions where the best place to go would be?

I have been rejected from tsb/ulster bank/aib due to my age(!) and lack of consistent income recently

    thanks

tbh if your've been rejected 3 times already its unlikely anyone will give you a loan basd on your current criteria

You have two options really, a credit union 'carloan' ;)

or you can ask your parents etc to go and guarantee the loan with you. its a small amount, the bank should be happy if they have someone reputable backing the loan with you, it removes their risk

    good luck

Or credit cards. (assuming you are over 18)

    Just be smart with it.

Not everyone is James Caan, unless i fully believed i could pay it off without owing much i would never go down this route.

    Well, Obviously.

Why would anyone do it if they didn't believe they could pay it off?

It's obvious you'll never be an entrepreneur.

OP, If you're living at home surely you could get a job of some sort to pay it off, or better still, save it up. It's not a lot of money for a young person with no debts, mortgage or family to support, I used to earn that in a summer back in the early 90's in recession Ireland.

This is the problem. Getting a credit card is a no goer. He simply won't get one. TBH he could find it hard to get a credit union loan too.

As Hammertime said, someone guarenteeing the loan might work. However, it really depends what the loan is for... I mean did you even go to the bank with some sort of business plan? IMO 5k wouldn't get you very far with a business start up TBH.
