    Hi folks,

I am considering buying a pair of the above. Don't know much about them to be honest, except I like to stay warm and dry at the same time :D Any recommendations based on personal experience? I am 6'3" and not sure if that will have a bearing on different brands suitability or not.

    ATB,

    John

I've been doing a lot of research into these aswell and I have been advised to get the Daiwa ones, they also seem to be the cheapest.
They also seem pretty hard to get me hands on because they were sold out in size 10 on the John Norris site.

For sitting in hides/cover during the cold weather, the neoprene lined ones are a must. However, if you have a long walk to get to your mark, they are a killer - you'll sweat like a proverbial pig.

    Hi John,

I spent hours sivving through catalogues this year looking at chest waders for fly fishing.

firstly its the best time of year to buy them as everything is on sale due to the seaon closing. if you want my advice, buy from a reputable fishing source such as daiwa, greys, scierra etc. reason being for this, is that all these companys offer lifetime guarantees.

try these lads, i found them good for fishing equipment.

John if yor out shooting and the water starts getting above the knees then it's time to heading be back.

For keeping warm in the cold weather I put on a pair of long johns under the deerhunter pants. I get the breathable top and long johns from TK max.
Over the breathable top will go a micro fleece in the real cold, all under the deerhunter jacket. And hiking socks for the feet they come up high on the calf of my leg to just under the knee with a good pair of boots.

The waders (and wellies) are not good for staying on your feet when climbing up or down hills over grass.

I am leaning towards neoprene, most of the places I'll be wildfowling are quite exposed and inhospitable later in the year. The drawback in that though is like said I'll be doing a bit of walking to get from A to B. Damned if you do... I could always carry them and put them on on site I suppose.

As for water depth Clive. I can't swim and will be at this craic on my own. How paranoid do ya think I am about it already :D Thing I want to avoid is getting wet, not donning a snorkel and diving in, definitely a no no.

I'm pondering the merits of a cammo pattern pair.

    hi John,

have a neoprene version with single shoulder velcro strap also wth pouch in the front of stomach for keeping the paws warm too when set in somewhere for a few hours!!

do take the advise of other above if you are planning to do a lot of walking they will sweat the nuts off you!

If hanging around and waiting they are very warm and durable also....

    go neoprene....

I use neoprene chest waders for fly fishing/wildfowling, as the lads say they are a killer if you have to walk far but my wildfowling is never that far a walk, only about 400 yards at most and im on the edge of the tide, they are deadly though for being able to sit down in any weather whilst waiting on a shot-watch the barb wire:eek:-it aint neoprene friendly!
