    Well Lads,

Did my first TT yesterday out on the Batterstown circuit in Meath and came in with time of 51:15 and average speed of 30.1 over at 27k route! I think (and I'm told) that thats pretty good for a person only cycling six weeks!

Was very daunting experience as when i arrived i was greeted by lads on stationary warm up bikes and full on TT bikes with all the bells and whistles! I said 'sure feck it, they were me once!' and signed on number three on the list! Got my countdown 5,4,3,2,1 and off I went!! Went like a lunny at the beginning and chilled out a bit then between 13-20k and then pushed for home! Stayed in the big ring for most of it which I'm regretting now as the legs aren't feeling to good but I'll survive (getting out this morning to get them moving again).

So where did I come??? 1st!!!!!! In the beginners section of course ha ha ha and there were only two of us in it but it still reads first and I can only get better. A time of 39:00 won it which is unreal im my eyes. Next year I'm hoping to get well into the fourties!!!

Roll on the winter training sessions!!!

    Dave

    Ahem...

On behalf of the boards cycling forum I would like to say well done! We're usually much more encouraging, I guess everyone just let this one slide, so, sorry for not fawning sooner.

    Better now?

Plenty of people thanked you for your contribution. That's usually used as a "good on ya" type thing anyway.

I've only done one TT myself, (a 40k on the batterstown route) and yes, it was very daunting before and pretty painful during. It felt great afterwards though. There is talk of getting another boards one together (a 10 mile or something) - you should give it a go - we're more encouraging in real life.

... we just don't like 'Daves'.

Seriously though, well done. You were probably fit and competing in other sports too right?

Careful thought you might end up with a full TT bikes and disc wheels and all if you become too good at it, and that can lead to divorce and bankruptcy ;)

A boards one would be a great idea and a great way for people to meet up! The Batterstown circuit is in very good condition at the moment and even has brand new surface from turn off Trim road to Dunsaughlin rbt!

If your giving it serious consideration let me know and I'll see if the boys in blue will help with road closures etc!! :)

marshalls are always easy enough to find, i would feel uncomfortable knowing the blue man band is helping us when there are bikes being stolen out there and drivers speeding on 50km roads .... :(

    Well done Dave.

A post with lots of thanks and no replies is usually a good thing. :)

If you wanted more replies you could have mentioned that you did it helmetless at midnight on a brakeless fixie with no lights whilst listening to loud music. ;)

If you wanted more replies you could have mentioned that you did it helmetless at midnight on a brakeless hybrid fixie with no lights whilst listening to loud music, all while looking very un-euro. ;)

    fixed that for you ;)

Yeah I think a post with a lot of thanks means well done to you....don't take it personally ;)
