itouch Availability in Ireland

I note that the latest itouch was released worldwide this month and I have been trying to find one in Dublin. I know I could get it on the Apple online store but I need it for the weekend.

I rang 3G mobile who siad that they didn't get their stock yet and they didn't believe that any shops in Ireland did. Now I checked on the Argos website and they are selling the "32g "3G" version for €279. My difficulty is that I am pretty clueless when it comes to these things and I just want to ensure that this is the latest version and not the previous one that they might be trying to sell off.

Has anyone else found a difficulty in tracking down the new itouch this month?

Can someone be kind enough to reccommend a couple of shops in Dublin's City Centre that might sell them. While Argos is fine I would feel more comfortable talking to a shop assistant to ensure I am buying the latest model.

    Thanks for reading!

To be perfectly sure, take the 6 from Pearse Street out to Liffey Valley retail park to PC World - the main apple outlet in Ireland. They'll help you and get you what you need. They has the stocks.

It does look like the Argos "3G" marked ones are the new ones - they still have the older ones listed (and the higher prices!) and two new ones, 32GB and 64GB respectively. Since a 64GB didn't even exist before, it seems the 32GB is the newer one then.

Beyond that, don't Argos let you see the box (if you ask) before you buy it (or you could just get a refund straight away if it was the wrong one, I would think).

    From http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPod-touch-3rd-Generation/1158/1:
We have a 32 GB touch. It looks identical on the outside, but does sport a new model number on the back, A1318. (The second gen touch was A1288).

So you could look at the listed model number on the box and confirm which one it is, before opening it/leaving the store...

You could try PC World in Jervis street to save a journey out to Liffey V.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I tried a couple of shops in town and it appears that none of the usual suspects have them yet and have no idea when they will get them.....great answer!

Argos are advertising them on their website but in store they say that they cannot sell them yet as they aren't up on their system. Pretty strange really you would have thought that shops would have got them on launch and then possibly sold out but 3G, O2, HMV, etc are saying that they have not gotten any yet.

Just have to wait I suppose or come up with ideas for a different present fairly quickly!

Picked up the 32gb this morning in Argos Ilac Centre. Checked it out and it is the new 3g so I can't understand why they said they could not sell you it.
