    From TV.com:
The comedic minds that brought you The Office, King of the Hill and Saturday Night Live now conspire to create Parks and Recreation. Amy Poehler plays Leslie Knope, a mid-level government employee who is trying to convert an abandoned construction pit into a usable community park while a documentary camera crew follows her every step and misstep. In her path are the typical defensive bureaucrats, selfish neighbors, real estate developers and single-issue fanatics determined to prevent her from doing any good in her community.

This show started last year with only 6 episodes in its' 1st season (so it's very easy to catch up!) just like the US version of The Office. Though not quite as strong as The Office IMO, it was still a funny, enjoyable show and I'm glad it's back for a 2nd season, starting tonight in the US (so starting tomorrow, for all of us :D). I'm not too sure if there are others here watching it, but felt the show needs a thread for its' new season... As is the case with most US show discussions, the thread will contain spoilers about the episode just aired from Fridays on so please be aware of that. If you have any spoilerific info to share about future episodes though, please do spoiler tag them in the thread...

    * Shameless plug: new episodes of Supernatural also air on Thursdays :D.

I watched the first 2 or 3 but never felt sufficiently motivated to match more. It's one joke, stretched thinly.

Better Off Ted was one similar series last year, but I felt more of a connection/loyalty to that than I did to Parks.

With the Office and Curb, and later 30 Rock, I can't see myself revisting Parks.

Thought it's first season was wholly passable.. that's all!

Not by any means hilarious. Got one or two chuckles out of each episode, but a relatively weak first season.

Aziz Ansari needs more screen-time and Amy "about as funny as a kick to the baby-maker" Poehler needs less screen-time.

I probably did enjoy it more than you did, but I do agree that it didn't have the strongest first season. But if you remember, The Office didn't have a stellar first season either and I think the reason was they were trying too hard to copy the UK version. The same is happening with Parks And Recreation and its' first season spent too much energy on trying to mimic The Office. It needs to find it's own identity and stand separately from it.

Hopefully, they'll do that with the second season and we can now find out :).

'The Office' found it's feet by the basketball episode in Season 1... same can't be said for the first season of 'Parks and Recreations' though IMO.

In fact, the last episode of their first season was probably the worst.

Anyways.. on the plus side, I love the quirky theme tune! :)

Not a bad opener overall. The cold open with Leslie rapping Will Smith's "Parents Just Don't Understand" was pretty funny. The whole gay marriage thing and the parents group complaints was done well enough too and it's good to see Leslie finally growing a backbone and holding her own against the calls for her resignation.

It still is all about Leslie though and the various other characters are simply too underdeveloped. I'd love to see more of them. Her boss, Ron, really cracks me up with his pretty indifferent reactions to everything.

Hello? Anybody else watching? :) I enjoyed the second episode too, though not quite as good as the premiere it had some funny moments (and a longer than usual appearance by Ron - yay!). I'm still liking this more than the current batch of this season's new comedies, but most of the new stuff hasn't really had a chance yet so we'll see if that changes...

Megan Mullally will guest star on Parks and Recreation. The Will & Grace star will play the ex-wife of Amy Poehler's character's boss. She's married to Nick Offerman who plays Ron Swanson, but they play exes on the show.Mullally is currently shooting her episode, which will air on Oct. 29. In last week's episode, Ron was incapacitated with a hernia.

What's with all the HTML tags in your post? It's a bit of a mess.

Party Down star Adam Scott is joining the cast of Parks and Recreation.
Scott will make his first appearance in this season's last two episodes and return for Season 3 as a series regular.

    :D

NBC renewed the Thursday night comedy in January

I just finished watching both series right through and felt it really came on in leaps and bounds as it went along. I really grew to like most of the characters and thankfully they didn't make the Office mistake and
split up the two straight-man characters
    before they became really boring.

Leslie, Tom, Andy and Ron are very funny characters and most of the support cast are great as well. They should really have killed the Office when they started this.

Didn't realise it was pushed back to midseason! :(

It had a superb second season.

The second season was brilliant, Ron Swanson is a legend :)

Having it delayed is a good and a bad thing, mostly good in that i have so many other shows to catch up on.
