RAID 5

I have a 2003 server machine with hardware RAID 5 using 3 SATA drives. 1 of the disks have failed. The drives are not hot swapable

From my reading of things it would seem that it is simply a matter of replacing the damaged disk with a disk of the same or greater capacity and the RAID will rebuild itself.

Am on the right track here or is there more to it than that? Do the disks need to be the same type exactly (maxtor)

Turn off machine, replace dead drive reboot and the parity info on the other drives will rebuild the array, Robert is your mothers brother.

Just get a drive with the same capacity as the dead one, brand should not matter
