Second Hand Audi A4s

I was browsing through carzone earlier.
And I noticed second hand Audi A4s seem very cheap.
I was particularly interested in 02 03 and 04 years.

I thought the reason might be because most of them were 2 liter
And would be expensive to tax.

But then I saw 1.6 liter models were just as cheap.
    Eg. I saw a 03 model with 50,000 miles for 7,800 euro.

    Is there a downside I don’t see?
To me it seems like your getting a up market car for bargain prices
And with the 1.6 engine reasonable tax levels.

Why are these cars so cheap?
I tempted to sell my corolla and upgrade.

There are lots of scams on carzone - there's a thread dedicated to carzone scams at this top of the forum.

If it sounds too good to be true....

I would not consider €7800 for an almost 7 year old A4 with an underpowered 1.6 litre engine cheap.

However I would put money on this one being a scam:

That's a UK reg, so you still have to pay VRT on it. Price seems ok on that basis.

Dont buy a 1.6 A4 that engine is so bad for that car. I would get a 1.8T petrol but many would buy a 1.9tdi.
In relation to the prices well these cars are getting old now and with huge drop off in new car prices, I guess this is what they are now worth.
I think you have just seen the light.... Corollas, golfs etc are dull boring cars and very much overpriced as used cars in my opinion. Have a good look around, you will be surprised.

A4's and Volvo S40's are cheap as chips - I know a couple of guys who buy them cheap, drive them into the ground and buy another...

The money people are willing to spend on A4's is hilarious apparently according to a relative of mine he just splashed out!!! ONLY 12.5k !!! on a RS4 TDi 02.

He's the type of bloke who's buying a different car every week (in his head), last time I was talking to him he was buying a 05 5 series.. dreamer.

Not at 6 - 7k, very solid car and look quite well. It may not be the most exciting drive in its class but Id certainly have one over a used even new toyota probably.
The tdi even in supercar quick 130 bhp guise :p is not a nice engine.

I too would not consider that cheap for a 1.6 Petrol 2003 car.

I don’t know much about the price of second hand cars to be honest.

I just thought A4s in general were a bit nicer than most other makes, such as Avensus, Mondeo. (but that’s just personal opinion)

I thought they might be a bit more expensive.

You can get a A4 for the same price as a corolla or a focus with the same milage and year.

I just surprised me. I didn't know this was the going rate for them.

€7-8k is madness for an A4 of that vintage

    Im selling my

    Audi A4 2.0L 130bhp
    48,000 miles

Im only asking €7,500 for it. Its a great car and one of the nicest in its class.

Correct me if im wrong but i think thats a very reasonable asking price (especially compared to others for sale)

Dont go for 1.6 A4, you better of going for a6 then.

As it goes, i think Audis are not bad cars, but overpriced. And nothing speciall in them aswell...

And if you really whana go for a4, go for 1.9tdi, the only one engine that is worth it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,225 ✭✭✭wba88

Wow, sounds an awful lot to me. 130bhp out of a 2.0l isn't allot for such a heavy engine.
What kind of extras does it have? Full leather, air con, sat nav, still sounds allot to me.

Are you sure its a 130 bhp? I thought they were a 170 bhp.

deffo not 170, it should be turbo then.

And Audi engines in everyday bangers are really crap

A4 2.0 normally aspired petrol engine had 130bhp. Newer 1.8T had 163bhp and way superior, the 2.0 litre petrol was unloved and not very popular, selling price will need to be really cheap to sell it.
