    Hi,
Im looking for some cheap vinyl application tools.
Im looking for a plastic of felt sqeegee for pressing the vinyl down.

Im also looking for a good craft knife to cut the vinyl.

I thought both of these would be easy to find but im not getting far.

Im located in galway area and the nearer the better.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks,
    John.

Before you start looking for fancy tools, tell me a bit more about what you're doing.
Are you going to be cutting the vinyl by hand?
Where are you getting the vinyl? Is it on a roll, or sheets?
Are you going to be applying backing tape?
What are you applying it to?
    Flat, smooth, hard, soft, textured?
Indoors or outside, warm or cold?

All of this will help determine the best way to apply the vinyl, especially if you're having problems. TBH - I've never had much problems using a sponge, but it depends on what you're doing.

    Hi,
    Answers to qustions:

Are you going to be cutting the vinyl by hand? Yes
Where are you getting the vinyl? Is it on a roll, or sheets?
3M DI-NOC Carbon. It is coming in a 50cmX120cm Roll

Are you going to be applying backing tape? It comes with adhesive backing.
What are you applying it to? I am applying it to internal and external automotive parts.

Any more info on the vinyl can be found at: http://www.dinocfilm.com/

In Galway, pay a visit to Dynasigns, they're out in the business park in Parkmore.
Ask them for a felt squeezy, I'm sure they'll be able to sell you one, might even get a freebie! Go into any art supply store, and get yourself an Exacto craft knife. Looks a bit like a scalpel, and is very sharp!!!

Next, make sure the car is clean, and give the surface a clean with industrial alcohol or white spirits. Heat up the surface a bit with a low temp. heat gun. If you want, spray the surface with a light mix of washing up liquid and water.

Apply the vinyl, from the center out wards, rubbing any air bubbles ahead of you. The soapy liquid will allow you to easily lift the vinyl off again, and re-position it, if you have to. This will make the "fix" of the vinyl to the surface take longer.

Try to do this indoors, in a dust free environment, the warmer the better. If you can't do this, at least keep the vinyl warm.

    :)

Thanks for the idea. I have sent them a email to see what they say.
