Just got the car serviced last week and it needed new disks in the front and new pads..

but by god the front driver's wheel is very squeaky.. every time I slow down at traffic lights or about to come to a complete stop.

Why is it squeaking? any brake experts out there who can tell me what I should be saying to the garage next week when I bring it in to have something else done on the exhaust?

    Cheers.

They probably just didnt grease up the brakes when applying them, after a few days it'll go.

The squeal is caused by the high frequency vibration due to the pad being slightly loose, very common esp on spurious(aftermarket) pads, the solution is to apply copper grease to the pad backing before inserting it into the caliper. It probably won't go away to be honest.

WD40 on the pads. It'll stop the squeal, and you'll always be early for your meetings.:P

Seriously....Just give the pads time to bed in OP, that's all. If the disks were replaced, they'll still need to be broken in aswell as the pads. Give it a few hundred miles or...

Find a quiet stretch of decent road.... accelerate to 60mph, then brake as hard as you can down to about 5-10 mph.... then slowly accelerate back to 60mph, and hold for about 5-10 minutes to let the brake disks and pads cool, then repeat....

    Do 10 times.

Is that not dangerous with new brakes and pads??

tbh, I would bring it back and make them put the copper grease onto the back of the pads.

Yeah, lethal. No sudden braking for the first 200 miles with new pads in.I'd just copper grease the backs of the pads,OP

I thought it would be safer to bring the car back and have them sort it and they did. working grand now.
