The original source is Fighter's Only, who are generally pretty trustworthy. MMABay suck though

Any chance of Thomas Egan been given a second chance at this event, to be dropped after one loss was harsh i thought.

I think he was only signed to give us someone to follow from Ireland,if he won he would have stayed on but I'm sure if he continues to learn he will be back in the UFC,but not until a few years imo.

I was really looking forward to the Paddy's weekend event and if this is true then that will definately be cancelled..I'm thinking it would consist of Ross Pearson and another Tuf 9 guy,Marcus Davis and maybe even Forrest

i wouldnt think "the tank" will be fightin in the ufc ever again!

now if we could get as many high profile fighters on the card over here again that would be some doing. the event itself wasnt spectacular but couldnt complain with the fighters who were on show

If he wins his next fight I'd say he would be back with the UFC. I'd like to see Greg Loughran, he has fought Eddie Alvarez and beaten some of the UFC's lightweight roster.

I'd say he'll need to progress through the house to get back in. Or improve alot.

i wouldnt think "the tank; will be fightin in the ufc ever again!</p>Bit harsh. He didnt perform well on the night, i'd like to see him get another go, even on the pre lim. I'd just like to see some Irish guys benn given a crack, and i dont count Marcus Davis of Forrest in that

because he was so bad the irish crowd ended up cheering for the englishman. if you were the ufc match maker would you put him on a card again?

out of curiosity has he fought since he lost in the ufc does anyone know?

Really? I don't recall that happening. Perhaps the same drunken idiots who booed Hathaway after the fight were abusing Tom too, but who gives a rat's ass what they think?

He was beaten on the day by a very strong, undefeated opponent in the world's premier MMA promotion. No shame there. The matchmakers obviously knew Tom was a talented guy, if you've seen him fight before you'll understand why he got his shot.

i taught most applauded hathaway after the fight, you couldn't not apllaud him seeing as he was by far the superior fighter.

egan might well be a good fighter to a certain level, but as you said yourself, it is the worlds premier promotion, think he was found out to be a long way out of his depth.

i'd love to be proved wrong tho but he didnt show anything from what i saw, albeit on that one given day, which was by far the most important day. i definately cant see him being involved in the next ufc in ireland, think he'd have to go on a streak in other promotions for a while first before he'd be considered again

Most, with the exception of the aforementioned idiots, did applaud Hathaway. I'm sure Tom, JK and the rest of his team did too. Doesn't mean the crowd turned against Tom.

Anyone can have an off-day, if the only GSP fight one saw was the Serra upset, he'd look out of his depth too. You have to remember how young he is, and he's arguably fighting a weight division above the optimum. I'd be surprised if he doesn't make an impact in years to come.

Anyhow, are we far enough off-topic yet? :D

Yes as I would have the cop on to understand that he was the youngest fighter in the UFC ever and fighters do or at least should improve over time.

    quite a way i suppose!

I didn’t get the impression that the crowd as much turned on tom but were just very disappointed by his performance, as I’m sure he was. I wasn’t or wouldn’t boo him, he had the balls to step into the cage, a darn sight more ballsy than I’ll or 99.9% of people will ever be!

i know people can have their off days etc etc, I just cant remember tom throwin out one single punch or kick let alone connecting.

Guess he is still only a young lad. Maybe the loss could be the makin of him ala GSP with serra !

did i just get signed up to the tom egan fan club . . ? :pac:

He got controlled by a superior wrestler, can happen quickly as we saw, its just a pity it happened him on his UFC debut where a lot of people were only seeing him for the first time, hes fighting again in castelbar november 7th so il be going to that myself.

MMA Bay is a ****ing joke of a site. This is the link they got the story from, they completely ignore the stuff about it maybe being in England and go with it definitely being in Ireland, as well as throwing in a bit of made up stuff of their own.

Can I suggest we ban them as a source? They have a history of **** journalism.
