When clicking on search results in google i keep getting diverted to some psm search engine.
Anyway does the message from spybot above (i installed last week) mean spyware trying to do something nasty?

Almost certainly its something nasty. No legitimate software would have exe files named as just numbers.

It is referring to 2 files.

    C:\Windows\System32\35.exe
    C:\Windows\System32\6.exe

These are probably only a fraction of the total files that need to be quarantined. I would run a full virus scan too to find the infection name.

Googled "Windows\System32\35.exe" and got http://www.forospyware.com/t271145.html which see's it as a bad thing.

IMO: get the free version of ad-aware off lavasoft.com install it, update it, and boot into safe-mode to run it: usually gets rid of these nasties better in safe-mode (where they can't hide with legit programs as they often do).

    Hi ronbyrne2005,
You may want to use unhackme as you have a rootkit installed.
    http://www.greatis.com/unhackme/download.htm
Use the beginners directions that are on the left side of the download page.

Be sure to run all the tests untill the PC has a clean state. DON'T delete anything you are unsure of, there are different options in the software and if in doubt google the threat and see whether it can be safely removed.

I have used this software on many PC's and it works pretty quick saving the operator lots of time.

I have been doing PC repairs, viruses, trojans, spyware and rootkits for 9 years and this is the most user friendly software I've found that really works. It has a 30 day fully functional trial.

I also have a website with all free cleaner programs that are fully functional all on one page to save looking for them one by one.

    Good luck
