Hi, i am trying to connect my ps3 to my college line but i cant seem to get PSN on it i did a connection test and it succeeds in getting the IP and Internet connection but fails to get PSN.
Now it displays"You have been signed out of the playstation network error 80710092"

i also disabled media servers but no luck.by the way the internet comes from the wall socket so their is no router or anything...

Should do so. Only problem is you don't have proper access to your internet because you don't know any of the router details. Easiest thing to do is open up a DMZ. You can try that too if you can access the admin's control panel.

Yeah, that was the first result I found on google for opening DNS. I'm sure if you looked yourself you'd find many more which have PS3 :)

I would assume that the college's firewall has the ports for connecting to PSN blocked. The only real way around this would be quite complicated...

Erm yeah there would be a way... tunelling through to another machine connected to the internet (at home for instance) and forwarding everything destined for PSN through port 80 so that it'll pass through your college's network then setting up a SOCKS proxy on your college PC/Laptop and making the PS3 use your PC as a proxy.

I did say it wasn't easy...
