His shots towards the end were decent. I more or less carry the same type gear as him in the Canon equivalent. Some of his techniques are a bit dodgy too.

    How to photography Cycling....

    1. Point Camera (towards cyclist)
    2. Take pics

For arty panning pic.... point camera and move camera in same direction as cyclist as he/she cycles past you.

There were 1 or 2 half decent shots. It's easier for him on a track but when you're doing a road race it's serious pressure as I was under at the Tour of Ireland.

so glad I didnt cover that .... anyways - time for bed.

Advice to Cyclists - if needed - theres plenty of top quality photographers out there in photo forum willing to photo you in a race (obviously they'd like a bit of money if you want it printed - but feel free to post any upcoming race events so the lads might consider turning up)

His panning and shutter speeds. Only 1 panning shot was done to a decent standard.

We've a sportive on on saturday running from Tralee to Dingle via the Conor Pass and back via Inch and Castlemaine - see here.

We're more than happy for photographers to take advantage of the event to take photos either for sale or for their own sports photography experience.

    Great photos in there BTW

    In fairness,any self-respecting photographer shouldn't be using a flash,especially in broad daylight.
    Shoddy camera-man-ship.

I wonder do the guys in the photo forum laugh at some of our pics that we put up in either images of beauty or other random threads the same way as we laugh at pob's on occasion???

photographers will almost always use a flash in direct sunlight, or at least a reflector below the subject to fill in the (comparatively) very dark shadows

You can set most point and shoot camera's to do the same. Just force the flash to fire.... but anyway photography isn't about techniques its about the moments... Technical expertise helps very little in day to day photography unless your a complete muppet :). I could talk all day about the best way to do things but at the end of the day a 7 year old with a camera can take (to use a dublin term) bleedin' deadly pics.
