NTL Broadband and TV order

Hey,

I just ordered digital value tv and 3MB broadband over the phone with NTL.
I have a wireless router so don't have to pay the 50 charge for that but i was told i still had to pay a 30 installation fee.

I've since found out that if i ordered online i would not have to pay that fee.

I rang back to cancel the phone order and re order online.

I was told i could do that but i would be waiting
by person 1) 2-3 weeks
by person 2) about 6 weeks
by person 3) 5-10 weeks

With my phone order I was told they would be out Monday afternoon and
would ring an hour before to say they are on the way. I don't mind paying
the 30 to get it a few weeks earlier but if there is no difference I would
obviously order online.

Has anybody ordered with them online recently and how long did it take
for installation?

Does anyone have any idea if their estimates are just an attempt to put me off ordering online or is there actually 2 different installation scheduling systems in place (one for online and another for phone, as they told me)?

If I do order online what options do i get in terms of scheduling the installation and will they still ring an hour before?

Quick answer, if you order online you can choose the installation date, which is usually about 1+ week.

If you have the option, go with sky.
