the first time my gf ran she could only do 2.5miles in id say about 35 mins. had to stop and walk then. within 3 - 4 weeks she was doing 5k in under 30mins and few months on and is down to near 27mins. she is well able for 8k (5miles) too. it can be done! just build up slowly and keep at it

I had 4months off training and I've always been fit - I couldn't make it past 2miles in my first session back - it will come to you very quickly.

    good stuff,
a lot of people here started off doing just that,
I wouldn't overdo it, 3 times a week might be enough for a while,

it doesn't get easier, you just get faster :) in the words of Greg Lemond (ok so he was a cyclist but he knew)

ah yeah it does get easier - there will be days ahead of you where you can keep legging it without a cinch! Those are great days!

Great to see you in the logs!

I am very new too, only doing this the past couple of months, but I promise you it will get a little bit easier. There will be days when you think WTF am I doing, but there'll also be days when it will be great.
I was the same at the start, even running for 1 minute was a big struggle. The podcasts are useful to keep you from overdoing it and expecting too much of yourself at the start.

Best of luck and keep at it :)

Welcome to the logs, and good luck :)

I was in your position just over a year ago, unfit as hell - and now I'm hooked!
