Why do people have to be assholes?!

Why can't people just be good and nice to everyone instead of being an asshole to others?

Why can't we just take some time off being selfish and look out for each other, help someone if they ask for help, speak nicely when spoken to, give money to the poor and needy and just go about our lives without being harsh, rude, arrogant or an asshole to someone?!

Why do people feel the need to hurt others, ignore others and be a douche?

Why is the only important person in the world the self?! That we feel the need that we must do anything possible as to flaunt our self worth onto everyone else and reject anything that could damage that thing people call ego?...

Why can't we take some time to think about what the other person might be thinking or feeling and if you could do anything to make them better?

i dont go whinging looking for help when i need something, i figure out how to get it myself, and then i break my balls until i have it

i, like many in ireland, was born into a family living below the bread line in the 80s, it did me no harm. being poor is only a small hurdle, being poor and lazy is a crippling one

I don't know how people can actually place any store in the idea that a society could exist one day where everyone acts in the interests of others (without looking up the barrel of a gun of course).

Even on the micro-level, the contrary evidence is everywhere you look: acts of downright selfishness, spite and greed on a daily basis.

Not to go down the religion debate but this is what most religious book teach people. To not be greedy, not be arrogant, love thy neighbor, speak nicely when spoken to, give charity, even a smile can be charity and the lot...

I also do believe there were times and civilisations in the past which adhered strongly to their religious believes and were good and happy. The one who usually had the least wealth were among the wisest.

Then we stepped into the material age where we are taught to judge people by their outward looks. The one who can attain the most wealth is for sure the wisest. We are taught that people become happy with less because they're lazy and can't strive to achieve more. Hence we should all dedicate our lives in gaining as much wealth as we can and consuming as much as we can cuz hey, we only live once!

And this is all we care about now days. Its how much can we collect and consume for ourselves while we're on this planet. We like to indulge in money and food while large populations are starving to death. But hey, who gives a **** about them?! Tough luck to them, but I'm not gonna curb my consumption in order to leave something for the other poor folks to fill their needs.

All politicians just care about is filling their pockets while they're in power, all businessmen only care about making larger profit, all working people only care about making their living and the end always justifies the means to the end. Even people only seem to love one another to be loved back in return.

And then people say "but look at the animal world and its the same!".
And I think to myself do we really believe we're just animals?!
3 million years living on this planet as the most intelligent and advanced species and we still can't differentiate ourselves from the inane instinctive animals?
Have we not evolved to break out of the animal traits and build the finest societies where everyone can live in fairness?
Have we not been given a special place in this world above all other species and thus act superiorly to all other species?
Or are we still feeble helpless slaves of nature, no different from the ants and spiders?!

Well, I've got an explanation. When some of us are on selfish holidays, some people are just finishing their holidays. Hence they're out of sync, and the world hates each other.

The version I knew was bout a scorpion and a frog.

Scorpion asks frog to give it a ride on its back to be able to cross the stream.
Frog says it won't cuz scorpions sting frogs and so if he would give the scorpion the ride then the scorpion would sting it and he'ld die!
Scorpion says, "don't be stupid! if I sting you then we'll both drown and die! Why would I do that?!"

Basically, because people can be pricks.

Personally, I think a lot of people are self-conscious so they take out their frustration with themselves on others. They're unhappy with their own lives, so they become bitter and angry, choosing to direct their negative emotions towards other people. I also think it's down to being jealous of other people ; jealous of their physical appearance, intelligence, good fortune in life, wealth etc.

It's a reflection on you as a person, if you're nasty to someone else - not a reflection on them.

To quote Mean Girls :

"Calling somebody else fat won't make you any skinnier. Calling someone stupid doesn't make you any smarter..."
