    Hi I am looking for information on behalf of a friend who wants to volunteer in this area.
    She lives in the Birr area .Any recommendations?

    Surely she is aware of the Irish Hospice Foundation?

    Currently there is no inpatient unit in Offaly AFAIK, however there are homecare teams but they generally consist of specialised clinical nurse specialists and social workers. Would she consider working as a bereavement as opposed to palliative, as there seems to be more opportunities for voluntary work. Here's a link i got from typing 'birr' and 'palliative' into google....might be someone to contact from that...
