Is it just with a particular game or all games?

I had similar trouble with smash bros since it was a dual layer disk. Older wii's will have trouble reading dual layer disks. Maybe world at war is also dual layer. I'm pretty sure nintendo have a free cleaning service for this fault. Contact them

Yeah, was happening to me with Resi 4. I'd put it in and get the read error, but then a restart worked fine. Weird. Would updating to the latest firmware make any difference? (Long shot I know!)

I was going to say "get the game exchanged for a new one" from wherever you bought it but if it's trouble with the Wii itself, might be better to hit up Nintendo
