I picked up 2 of these a few days ago from a cork based seller,
and had them in 2 days:

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/HDMI-Cable-1-5M-Gold-24k-1-3b-HD-1080p_W0QQitemZ260477875311QQ

And the reason i post them here is because of how thick these cables are.
    The build quality is fantastic.

When i was hooking up the 360 to my monitor i had the monitor pushing down on the cable,
and ended up bending the connector by a few mm's, and one of the pins no longer made contact,
    so no signal was made.

It was my first time using hdmi, and i never realised how a poorly designed connector it is in terms of strain relief,
all hdmi cables have this flaw.

Anyway this guy replaced it free of charge, which it thought was awesome,
considering the fact it was all my own fault.

You can actually buy 90 degree angle HDMI swivel adapters,
which i think would be worth it, to prevent what happened to me.

The seller mentioned he should have those as well within 2-3 weeks.

In fairness theres not many sellers who would do that, no questions asked.

Nothing really to "high quality" about it,But still it's a good price and sounds like a good ebayer to deal with,Might pick one up sometime and link my laptop to the TV :)

    Yup

HDMI is digital so theres no extra quality with a gold plated cable !

It either works or it doesnt

Ordered one of these the other day http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.29244

The €6 leads in tesco aren't gold plated. If what your connecting them into are not gold plated then it makes no difference.

As far as looks go that HD cable would be pretty low down

Lucky it all stay behind the TV,DealExtreme are usually the cheapest but the postage is quite a major factor you need to order things at least a week before you need it!!

I went to Tesco in Stillorgan at the weekend but the cheapest HDMI cable was 18.99 so it may not be available everywhere. I must try Nutgrove.

They had them in Tesco in the Jervis Shopping Center a few weeks back guys.....

oof, looks like i got a good deal. Just to note, the length of the cable is only 1 metre, which i think would be below average. It was no problem for me as my ps3 is just under the telly :)

This is more than a coincidence.

"Cork" producers giving a glowing review of an ebay seller from you've guessed it - Cork.

eg: "The build quality is fantastic."
"Anyway this guy replaced it free of charge, which it thought was awesome,"
"In fairness theres not many sellers who would do that, no questions asked. "

I don't really care it's a good enough deal but isn't this sort of thing frowned on by the mods?

    Typical cork begrudgery.

If i knew the guy and was trying to advertise for him,
do you really think I'd mention the fact i broke the cable?

Not the best marketing strategy there is it?

Especially when tools might misread my post and assume it broke because it was of bad build quality.

I love the way you selectively quoted my post to make it look like that too! :pac:

I was overwhelmed with his genorosity, and felt like posting it up here.

The cable is much thicker than other HDMI's that cost much more, and
is really a bargain at the price.

And if you live in cork its even sweeter, because of the speed of postage.

So i guess you better run along now and find someone else to complain to the mods.

    No frankly!

I'm sick of locking up threads based on no real evidence, but basic suspicions are not enough.

Unless I've proof corkproducers has that same Ebay ID or he's posted about these cables in the past, then I don't see anything wrong with recommended an Ebay seller.

    And btw,
is there any specific reason why monoprice.com do not deliver to ireland?

I reckon that if we got enough of people on here to email them,
they'd probably considering adding it on their destinations.

    Thats not specifically true.
Better quality hdmi cables will carry more bandwidth than others.

There was a test done on this, with some very high end analsysis equipment,.

and they tested various branded HDMI cables at various transfer rates.

Only some of the high end (pricey) HDMI cables i.e Monster,
passed the highest speed they tried, (12 GB/s if i remember correctly),

but a 10$ monoprice hdmi cable also passed the highest test!

It was the only brand to pass in the budget price range.

Ill try and find the link to the article, was interesting stuff.

Different quality cable does make a difference over longer runs but I have yet to see any practical difference on cables up to 5m. Since digital is binary the information is either received or it isnt and i dont really undetsand where bandwidth would come into play. Anyway perhaps a topic for another forum.

My thinking would be do not spend big money on a cable unless you are using it for a long run.

Ordered this almost 1 month ago. Still showing as processing. Just went and bought one in a shop in the end. Says it will be in stock later this month though.

Komplett are selling a 1.8 metre HDMI cable for €6; not bad if anyone is planning on buying another item from them to warrant paying the P&P. Alternatively, you can collect the cable from their pick-up point in Blanchardstown.
