Dialers for HKC alarm system?

I currently have a HKC alarm system and I'd like to get some sort of dialer for it.

The one problem is my phone line is with Smart Telecom and they don't support texting over the phone line. So I assume it would need to be a GSM dialer or a Voice dialer?

Roughly how much would each cost?

Would a voice dialer work over VoIP, I'd like to get rid of the expensive landline someday and go all IP?

Could I get a voice dialer/gsm dialer optionally monitored at some stage in the future?

Also I've seen mention of Signet systems with support for IP, x10, etc. This seems very interesting as I'm a software engineer and wouldn't mind missing with a little home security DIY (IP cameras, etc.) and home automation.

    Are they any good?

Could a Signet simply replace a HKC panel, while keeping all the existing wired sensors and bells?

How much would such a system cost to get installed?

Also could such a system be connected in anyway with my other question here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055683197

In advance I'd be very grateful for any help given.

    Hi BK,
The gsm for the hkc is expensive, around €500 installed.
With this you can set, unset the panel, turn on or off lights, heating, open close gates. This is through a sim card which you wont need the landline for.

The signet could also be used, koolkid will tell you about all its features and prices.

Just to clarify your phone line does not need to be text enabled in order for the alarm system to send out texts. It simply rings an sms server and it sends the text
Yes they will all work over ip, all you need to do here is get an ata.
The signet is a better panel but if your current panel is working ok then I'd leave it

You can get a vocaliser which will diall up to 5 numbers and no monitoring costs. Otherwise, there are newer panels on the market with built in gsm diallers. Europlex do one which I am being trained up on next week if you go that road..

Thanks for the feedback guys. Looking at the Europlex site, it looks like only the SigNET 300 supports IP and a web server. This looks like their top of the range controller, so I'd imagine it would be expensive.

It is a pity, as I would love to build an iPhone app to control the alarm system over the IP interface. It would be very cool to be able to control the alarm system from your iPhone.

Signet 220 has an on board web-server and an rj45 to connect to your router, cheaper than 300.
No need for a iphone app as all you need is a browser
