Back Payments

    Hi,

I'm currently receiving supplementary JSA (from the community welfare officer) and I've just received notice of my means test. I'm expecting to be back dated to the date that I first signed on but I'm wondering if I'll receive a cheque in the post or if I'll collect it in the post office along with my weekly payment. Also if I get a job now what happens to my back payment? If I'm working Mon-Fri I can't pick it up from the post office...

If anyone knows I'd really appreciate your filling me in. Thanks!

If you have been receiving supplementary welfare allowance since applying for JSA, then there more likely will be no backpay. DSFA will pay the CWO back the amount you have been paid. If there is backpay, it may issue in a cheque, you may get it with your first payment at the post office. If you have returned to work by then, then it will be issued by cheque to your home address.

You will receive backpayment of JSA and Supplementary Welfare that you received to date will be deducted from JSA. I believe that you will receive the backpayment in check format. If you get employment - you are still entitlement to receive the backpayment of JSA.

Back payments normally come as a cheque.
