    www.fragrancex.com

I have used this site a number of times for perfumes/aftershaves for gifts and for myself. Shipping is free (use discount code - FREE) and I usually have the stuff within 10 days or so.

If you are buying for a laydee(or if indeed you are a laydee) I highly recommend Believe by Britney Spears-this isn't a joke!! I have lost count of the amount of people - young and old - who have admired it on me! A gift set including 100ml edt, body lotion and shower gel is $30.00 (See link)

    http://www.fragrancex.com/products/_lid_B-am-pid_62603W-am-cid_Perfume__products.html

Cool water edt by Davidoff is $26.95 for 4.2 oz bottle(approx 125ml!) (tester)

    http://www.fragrancex.com/products/_lid_C-am-pid_127M-am-cid_Cologne__products.html

There are too many others to mention on just this post, Again, as the site is US based, its worth mentioning to keep your order under 22 euro (approx $30) But you can make seperate orders and they are all still free shipping!!

(and I really, really do recommend the Britney perfume!)

Lindtee we seem to be shopping in the same places. :)

These guys do have great prices but my last order took over 6 weeks. Their customer service were prompt in replying but could not provide any tracking info and only advice was 'it should arrive eventually'. It arrived the day I was just about to arrange a chargeback with Visa.

I'd also note there is a good chance of Customs looking for cash.

seems bit too good to be true, how do you know your not getting something with rats urine in it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,396 ✭✭✭lindtee

Don't say things like that Kristok! Perfumes have always seemed fine to me!

Customs won't look for cash as long as you keep under the €22 ($30) limit. I only order items lower than that, there's still plenty of choice. Ordered from them about 10 times and never had a problem with delayed items/customs.

Well if you think about the time and effort it would take to gather a good size number of rats with the intention of harvesting their urine I'm sure you will agree that the return on investment just isnt there. Im sure the human variant would be much easier to acquire in large quantities.

Seriously though those prices are great.

    My orders were canceled saying:
¨The billing address provided did not match your credit card statement billing address.

The shipping address does not match your billing address.¨

I emailed my address and got this back:

I am going to order bottle of Cool Water by Davidoff which costs €16.35 for 100ml bottle (tester it means you don't get a box with it) as opposed to €42 for 50ml bottle in Boots.
    Happy Days:)

Where di I put in the FREE?

I did it already but was charged full wack for postage!

Is tehre anywhere I could find a pricelist for these fragrances in Ireland? Looked up boots but can't really see many. I'd like to know what the prices are here in Ireland then on Frangrancex.

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 67 ✭✭Geranium40

    Hi buffy
you type in the word free where is says coupon - usually on left hand side of screen, this will take off postage charge. If you add to order sometimes it reverts back with postage so just check its 0 before you go to pay.

Is it deffo kosha. I brought up a pic of the Armani Acqua Di Gio spray deodorant and compared it to a bottle I have here and it was a bit different, but at €13 a bottle it is a steal, the cheapest in boots ect here is €26 and the very cheapest is the Airport shops @ around €22.

Is it the normal An Post that delivers it? Also is it worth the risk say buying something around €40? looking to buy Clinique Happy 100ml for the Mrs but it's €42 on the site, Do they put the value on the package?

    Thanks

Yeah, they come via normal post. Can't remember whether or not they declare the value outside, *think* they do....You can risk it but don't say you weren't warned:)

I see they have unboxed version for €36, if it did get hit with customs I wonder how much extra would the customs cost, I checked revenue site and they don't have a guideline for perfumes, would it double the price I wonder?

Wouldn't think it would double it, I think its a fiver processing charge and 21% of the value of the good. Perfume certainly wouldn't be lower vat than that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,792 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

Just found this site that might be of interest, if I read it right and the info on it is correct, Custom duty is not charged on fragrance or tiolet water, it's hopefully as you said you pay 21% VAT and probably a handling charge of a fiver, which would make it €49.54

You could just buy it here: http://www.bodyhaven.ie/fragrances.php?page=4
It's unboxed though, which may be a problem if it's a present!

Less chance of getting caught if you order seperately and no chance if you keep the order under €22. Bodyhaven.ie are Irish, so no chance with them at all.

And If I go over the €22 say €30 will i get done on the whole €30 or just €8

Order them seperately, the shipping is free so no harm in getting two packages. I got loads from this site, no problems yet

This site is fantastic. €25 for 100ml Dunhill black. The 50ml was priced at €50 in boots!

Just wondering, do they stop every package for customs or just random ones? Also do they allow some minor over spends. My order was €22.08, be harsh to get caught for €0.08 :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 67 ✭✭Geranium40

Hi I just received my perfume valued at €32 ($45) and it was not stopped by customs :) Maybe I was just lucky ;) - it said "beauty products" on box and had full value on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,556 ✭✭✭Slunk

Just another quick question, Is it only the price of the item or item plus whatever p&p charges , I had it gift wrapped for €2 which brought it just over the €22 customs limit.

As far as I know if you get a package by registered post or with DHL/ups it is far more likely to be stopped than standard post.

Hi apologies, I think there is a more recent thread but i cannot find it

I saw fragrancex on a thread here and ordered

    on 6th October 2010

No sign of it - I queried and they say its by airmail but with no tracking

Seems an awful long time going by what others have said

How can I check if it was stopped by Customs, or would I hear fromt hem eventually

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 321 ✭✭Little A

    Hi,

I ordered on the same day as you.....i ordered 4 different products.

    - 1st bottle arrive 2 days ago....perfect
    - 2nd bottle - note from postie that it could be collected but called there this morning & no sign of it
    - 3rd & 4th....no word (the cost of these when the order was processed went just over €22 (by pennies), so not sure if I'll be caught by customs

Seems to take an age....you wouldn't want to be depending on them for an xmas pressie

Depending on the item it might be liable under €22.

    http://www.revenue.ie/en/customs/leaflets/pn1179.html
    3. Consignments of Negligible Value

Consignments not exceeding an intrinsic value of €150 may be imported without payment of Customs Duty, while consignments not exceeding a total value of €22 may be imported without payment of VAT. (Intrinsic value is the value of the goods alone, and does not include insurance and freight.) However, it should be noted in particular that there is no relief (from Customs Duty, VAT or Excise duty) under this negligible value provision for importations of tobacco, tobacco products, alcohol products, perfumes or toilet waters irrespective of their value.

The postage is in theory added to non-perfume items, so if you bought a pencil for €1 and paid €21.50 for a courier then you are liable -however I think it is rare enough for have them do this, BUT when you do get charged they will include the shipping in the price.

There is a thread about this company in online buying & auctions, some people having delays as reported here.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056052600

If this company is doing a lot of business then I expect they are more likely to spot the packages and so stop them. I expect customs have a dedicated team doing play.com stuff, when packages are all almost identical it would be easier to process them, so a shop becoming popular might be its downfall.
