I have an idea for a webite. Basically without giving too much away it is comparing products with the summary details a customer wants to know to compare with the other product. It is a service product and part of the website would be a directory from suppliers the products can be obtained and installers who can provide the service. It is very difficult to get this information quickly and easily. Basically the question I have is how do people make money from these websites?? I have checked the domain i want and is still available.

The service providers you are comparing on the site would pay you a percentage/fee for every sale that is directed to them from your site.

Surely the time hasnt passed when i havnt seen anything like it for this product. Im knew to this and would like to know the different methods of how the website could create income and how one would go about this? How much would a website like this cost to set-up? The website would allow comparisions to be made between different products. the customer can then choose the preferred product and find it through the directory aswell.

Setting up the site is one thing, but advertising and marketing is a whole other ball game. If you haven't got a big chunk of cash and a good PR company behind you it's a waste of time. Look at the advertising done by the likes of comparethemarket.com and moneysupermarket.co.uk

The market is becoming saturated with stuff like this. Ben Dunne is at it, there's another boardsie doing something similar. Financial backing is the big thing, and I can't see too many business angels looking to get into stuff like this these days. I'm very much of the opinion that they're money pits. You definitely need to start very very big, and then keep up that exposure.
