    Anyone been following the developments of the new Hogan/Bischoff promotion?

    Ric Flair has apparently signed a 3 year contract with them :eek: and they have approached Jeff Hardy of all people despite his legal troubles.

    Also appearing for them would be Diamond Dallas Page, Ken Anderson, Charles "Godfather" Wright, Sean Morley and Lacey Von Erich. As well as the Nasty Boys probably.

    The idea is to tour internationally and film a reality show at the same time with Hogan and Flair. Obviously after they do Australia the next big international market is Europe.

    If this came to Ireland would you pay to see it? Obviously the wrestling would be atrocious.

    I think they would have to do it as a show/festival/convention kind of thing cause as just straight up shows it will be terrible as even the undercard guys are past it, but if they throw in photo ops and a couple of other activities with the huge stars it could be interesting.

    Any particular source for some of the finer details of this, especially the Flair bit?

    Either way this'll be worth keeping an eye on, if only for the massive car crash potential. Look at the destruction that ensued last time the Hogan and Bischoff egoes got their teeth into a wrestling promotion........

    The observer, pwinsider and everyone else has pretty much picked it up now. I listened to the breaking news audio on The Observer but they didn't seem to have many details other than the fact it was a 3 year deal and Flair would be Hogan's opponent for the tour and they wanted Jeff Hardy for semi main events. Both men are going through big divorce settlements so the tour and reality show are probably aimed to help with those.

    http://pwinsider.com/article/41458/its-official-ric-flair-returning-to-the-ring.html?p=1
    A source close to Ric Flair confirmed this afternoon that Ric Flair is indeed going to work the Hulkamania Australian tour and yes, he will be wrestling Hogan.

    PWInsider.com originally broke last week that Flair was in negotiations to work the tour. The November matches will be the first official Flair wrestling matches since his Wrestlemania 24 retirement match against Shawn Michaels.

    Eric Bischoff is traveling to Australia this week to do promotional work for the four day tour, titled "Hulkamania - Let the Battle Begin."

    Other names slated for the tour are Diamond Dallas Page, Ken Anderson, Shannon Moore, Charles "Godfather" Wright, Sean Morley, Lacey Von Erich, the former Umaga (Eddie Fatu) and one would assume Brutus Beefcake and The Nasty Boys based on their long association with Hogan.

    I prefer wrestling at full pace myself.

    Jesus, a Hogan match is slow enough with a young fresh opponent, never mind a man who's Flair's age.

    They really should be doing tags with other decent names who can still move. They'd carry the work load and then Flair and Hogan would come in, do all their signature stuff and do the big finish.

    Wot no Superfly Jimmy Snuka or Ricky Steamboat ? :pac:

    or Maybe Ted Dibiase and the Hart Foundation Lolz

    I'd pay if they brought the Iron Sheik to do a mid ring shoot interview half way through the show. :P

    "You like Michael Jackson. I break your back, make you humble!"

    a flair/hogan reality show would be hilarious

    No interest in this at all, these oap's should know when to call it a day. They will keep at it till one of them passes out with a heart attack or even dies. Hogan is hardly fit to walk these days never mind wrestle, I suppose it like comparing a grand national race at aintree(wwe), to a few old donkeys racing against each other at a community sports day in your local parish.

    So what do ye reckon a tour headlined by Hogan/Flair could draw if it came to Ireland? And say they got Jeff as well and a few more ex WWE names like Kennedy etc. If they have any sense they'll try to nab a few of the leading indy names to draw the smarks as well such as Briscoes etc.

    And would you go?

    Bear in mind theres been a bit of live wrestling overkill over here lately what with regular WWE visits, TNA and AWR as well as all the usual local stuff, not to mention, ROH, NOAH and soon Dragon gate in Englan in the last 2 years.

    If priced reasonably and done as a package with a meet and greet session and stuff I reckon it could sell one night in the 02. They would have to time it right so it isn't up against anything else though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,492 ✭✭✭EdK

    I'd be a liar if I said I wouldnt go at the right price, Obviously both are well past their prime but as much of an asshole as Hogan is i'd still love to see him in a ring or meet him

    i doubt it would see out the o2, thats 10,000 we are talking about, they might sell out the national stadium alrite though if well advertised

    I read something about this on 411mania yesterday. Didn't know about the reality show.

    Strikes me as a very bad idea. The "promotion" itself sounds like the World Wrestling Allstars that toured after the split up of WCW. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but I never considered it a proper promotion, just a wrestling tour. (if that makes any sense at all)

    With Hogan's fame, and Bischoff's savvy, I would think that they would have a great chance of starting a decent legit promotion. Especially if they are able to attract young up and comers like Ken Anderson and Umaga.

    I wouldn't be surprised to see Screech Powers appearing regularily on the tour.

    Bad and all as it has the potential to be, and as much as I think he’s a complete A-hole, his place in wrestling history is undeniable so I personally cannot deny that I’d love to say I’ve see Hogan live for the nostalgia alone (For the same reason I would have gone to an Elvis or Michael Jackson concert if I’d had the chance, even though I’m not a big fan of either, know what I mean?) and I don’t think Irish fans have gotten too many chances to see him before, if ever? But then again, it would depend on the price of the ticket.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,588 ✭✭✭JP Liz

    It would depend on the line up but Hulk would be a huge draw i'd imagine

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,478 ✭✭✭Bubs101

    I would 100% go if this came to Ireland and I'd buy all the Hogan merch available. His match would obviously be **** but Hogan's always were. i'd just pay to see the posing and the Atomic leg drop.

    Edit:I should also say that I do have alot of faith in Bischoff and Hogan. Can't see them throwing their money away and it's only down to the fact that the likes of Meltzer hate them that they are naysaying. Everybody knows that when it comes down to business Bischoff does know what he's doing and when it comes to money nobody is better than Hogan with it and then you'd even have Flair to help with booking

    I would go too , so i could say that i have seen Hogan Wrestle .

    I would go. And I could imagine alot of old fans going too, just for Hogan/Flair.

    I'd say if they drew 5,000 it would be a massive massive success.

    I'd probably end up buying a cheaper GA seat out of pure curiousity and as others said its the last chance we'll get to see Hogan live and in person.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,082 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

    Absolutely no respect for Flair anymore.

    EDIT: Wouldn't mind going to see this with a few boardsies if it came to Dublin though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭Fozzy

    I'd go to it! Can't imagine what shape Hogan would be in in three years time though, if it lasts that long. One phone call from Vince and it could all be off

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

    Wacky.

    It's like he had an idea for a 10 second promo and stretched it to nearly 2 minutes.

    I would go. Hogan is a master showman and one of the reason i grew up to be a wrestling fan. We can all slate his move set and such but the interest this guy created in pro wrestling has to be applauded. God knows how pro wrestling would have panned out if it was not for him and his peers years ago?

    if they came to dublin i would go for pure banter purposes alright.

    if and thats a big IF they do come to dublin - i think we should all arrange to go together for the craic.

    followed by a few scoops afterwards to disect ( laugh at it ) in detail.

    If they do end up doing a European tour then I'm sure that Dublin will be included. There's as big an appetite for wrestling here as any other European country outside of the UK

    I can imagine them drawing well here, if they were to run Dublin, unless it was priced ridiculously high. But it really depends if the venture survives, because the Australia shows are very ambitious, and it's tough to say whether or not they'll succeed with those. It's very interesting either way though.

    Personally, it doesn't interest me in the slightest. The presence of Flair and Hogan actually puts me off completely, even though i can enjoy both of them for their various attributes on TV. The undercard would have to be something to get me excited.

    You can buy meet and greet tickets for the Hulkamania tour for $750.00 here. The meet and greet includes:

    * 90 minute pre-show function where you will enjoy a selection of canapés and beverages and enjoy an exclusive Q&A session with Hulk and friends
    * Exclusive VIP Lanyard
    * Official merchandise item
    * Catch all the action from your Diamond seat within the first 3 rows ringside

    :eek::eek::eek:

    Now I'm CONVINCED it will fail. The one trump card they had was possibly meeting Hogan but no one is going to pay 750 (441 euros) for a meet and greet, a fecking lanyard and ONE free piece of merchandise. Show tickets are over priced too.

    Diamond Floor
    Visa Premium Presale $380.00 Platinum Floor
    Visa Premium Presale $170.00

    * Platinum Reserved
    Visa Premium Presale $170.00

    King V (Big Daddy V) is now off Hulk Hogan's Hulkamania tour because he's booked a movie role. The Godfather is also off the tour.

    In other words they didn't want to spend the whole tour jobbing to Hogan and his buddies.

    LOL. good one Dancor. Hogan and Flair must be really broke now. I wonder if Hogan will say "I'm sorry. I love you." before he pins Flair every night of the tour.
