    Hello,

Can anyone tell me what are the entry requirements for EMT training. I want to train as a paramedic but dont have a drivers licence which bars me from entry. Is a drivers licence required for emt training?

    :)

I'm confused. Are you talking about Paramedic training with the HSE/DFB or EMT training privately?

Paramedic is one level above EMT on the register and can only be done through successful application to the National Ambulance Service, which requires full C1 and D1 driving licences. Or Dublin Fire Brigade.

If you are training to EMT privately, there are no licence requirements.

    Hope this helps.

Can I apply for emt training with the national ambulance service?
    How much does it cost?

As far as I understand there is no way for non-ambulance service staff to train with them. You must be an employee, i.e. passed the interview and offered a place.

Companies that offer EMT training to the public can be found on PHECCs website Here

Short answer is No!. Minimum requirement to work a frontline emergency ambulance either with ourselves or the DFB is paramedic level.

Best option for you if you want to pursue a career in pre hospital emergency care is to contact one of the private schools.
