Thunderbird on Snow Leopard

I got a new iMAC today, running snow leopard. I downloaded Thunderbird and installed it without issues. My question however is as follows. How do I import the mail settings and mails from Thunderbird that is installed on my MBP which runs Leopard?

I have tried a few things and have copied the profiles folder from my MBP and used it to replace the Thunderbird profiles folder on my new iMAC. This makes no difference, nothing is imported.

I tried a search on the web, and a few suggest what I have already tried and have also failed. Has anyone else had this issue? Or can some one tell me how I should do it?

When you say you've copied over the profiles folder do you mean these two:

    <user>/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/
    <user>/Library/Application Support/Thunderbird/Profiles/

    That should do it.
