NTL and TV Tuner question

    Hi,
Really sorry if this has been covered over and over before. My last HTPC was when I lived in the UK and I just used a dual DVB-T card to receive Freeview.
Now I'm back I've ordered the Digital Value Pack and Broadband Express from NTL. I have no interest in hundreds of useless digital channels. I just want the basic, normal channels.
All the discussions I've seen here were for NTL digital but I'm wondering what the normal channels come in on, can they be picked up with an analogue TV tuner and whats happening with the digital switchover (is that even happening here?!)?
Can anyone recommend a decent USB (has to be USB) dual TV tuner that will work on NTL and VMC and that has an IR receiver and Media Center remote?
    Thanks.

For NTL, they come in on dvb-t but are encoded with Nagra2 or 3 so you cant get them on your HTPC. The analogue is still on the same cable, so an analogue tuner will work. As for the switchover, I can't see that happening anytime soon. Its probably just the free over the air rabbits ears analogue that will go anyway. The terrestrial forum might be a better option if you check there.

No idea. There can't be many available so I'd just go with the cheapest that works with VMC. The receiver and remote can be bought separately anyway too (ebay).

DVB-T is available in selected area's, at least it was while they were doing trial runs, not sure what’s the story with it now.

DVB-C is how NTL Digital is delivered but as said previously its encrypted.

Never seen a dual Analogue Tuner USB stick but Hauppauge would be a place to start.

Best option would probably be a DVB-S card with Freesat and go the analogue route for rte, tv3 etc, no subs either.

I use the dvb-t signal with a dvb-t dual tuner and it looks fantastic when it works. You can get testcards on tv3 sometimes and the ATI driver for dxva isnt perfect.
