My pajero is a 2.8 and the altanater seems to have gone off line, leaning back towards the fire wall a bit causing the inside fan belt to come loose. anyone know why this might have happened?!

It is hard to diagnose over the net.

Has the main bolt in the alternator come loose? Sometimes they have a cone shaped washer on them that locates the alternator.

If this was not in place the belts would not run true on the pulleys.

Thanks for that. i found the problem. all that was really wrong was that who ever serviced it last(i only have it a few days) only changed one fan belt, which meant that the older one was alot looser causing it to slip side ways and turn..

I also noticed it was way too full with oil, jesus some fella's haven't a clue.. Its all sorted now anyway. Thanks again.
