Insurance advice?

    'm with Axa for about 5 years, I'm 31 and I drive a 1.9 tdi skoda octavia.

Last year my insurance was 550 euro but then I was driving an old renault megane 01.

This year they are qouting me 960 euro.

Now I have more then 5 years no claims and no points on my licence

I have been shopping around online and found that 25year plus are offering me 538 for fully comp with all the usual extra's

I have spoken to axa and they came down to 750 euro, I told them it still to expensive.

They advised me against going to 25yearplus as I'd loose my no claims bonus if I have an accident and many people have problems with them.

Just like to know if anyone here is with them and how are they as an insurer?

This year money is tighter and I can't afford any more to be paying anything but the best value I can get for car insurance.

Would you recommend me staying with AXA or moving to cheaper insurers?

If you read the FAQ on the 25 plus site you can see that they do a protected NCB which would cover you.
What is a No Claims Discount?

You will get a discount on your insurance each year if you do not make a claim. No Claims Discount can be transferred between insurers providing you can prove that you have not made a claim, however if you have made a claim recently, you can still transfer any remaining discount between insurers but this may be at a reduced level. The amount of no claims discount available to you will be on your renewal notice from your current insurer. If a claim is made or arises under your insurance, the discount you receive when you renew your insurance may be reduced or lost. It is the number of years' claim free that is important rather than the actual percentage, as this varies from insurer to insurer.

How does Protected No Claims Discount work?

Protected No Claims Discount can generally be included when you are earning maximum no claims discount. By paying an extra premium you can protect your well-earned discount from being reduced in the event of a claim. However, this option can only be included when you first take out a policy or renew it, and you are usually limited to making only 2 claims every 5 years.

I'd recommend that you sit down with a phone, spreadsheet and the phonebook and ring everyone in the book. That's every broker as well as every company. It should take no more than an hour of your time, and you might find the savings worth that effort.
